i had a bad experience with interactive mystique braces (white and clear braces) so just wondering what the metal ones are like, i am in my 20s tho and i guess they wouldnt look aesthetically pleasing but mayb easier to cope with.
how do ppl put up with them for so long? all the time i had mine they were a constant reminder so much so they had to come out otherwise i would have given up my job.
also do u think they would put alot of potential partners off?
i feel so in the dark about the whole thing.

I can't say about the clear ones, but for metal, parts of the bands and brackets may irritate your mouth or tongue for a bit until you get used to them. If anything they are probably stronger.

I think the average amount of time is about two years, and really that can go surprisingly fast, so may as well do it and get it over with, who cares what it looks like. I see adults with braces now and then and I really don't even give any thought as to if it looks 'pleasing' on them or not. So go for it, if you don't do it now you will someday wish you had. ; )

The metal braces are a bit smaller than the clear ceramic brackets. The metal brackets also don't have the sharp corners that the clear ones have. I wear metal braces and they have not been a turn off to guys. Good luck in your treatment.

Whatever kind you choose, they have to have the same effect on your bone structure, so I don't think you'd enjoy more comfort either way. If one is quicker, it will be more painful for the shorter period, and vice-versa.

They probably would put some guysm probably most guys our age off, but those guys are shallow and you need not waste your time on them. I wouldn't judge you by them. Gishpurple @ AIM

I'd stay stick with the braces you have, but your orthodontist may have deeper insights than these.

I'm 22 and have had metal braces for around 4 months now.

The first couple of weeks they were uncomfortable, but now I hardly notice them.

All of the girls I know don't have a problem with them, quite the opposite in fact.

They say it shows I care about my appearance.

I had the good ol' metal ones. They felt fine. I was 24 y/o at the time. Once I got the pretty color bands than you can't really notice the metal.
