Hi I use hair straighteners everyday and have started to see the damage. So I was wondering what heat protective sprays are the best in preventing damage and do not cause your hair to look greasy or stiff. Thankyou in advance

p.s I haven't got much money so I hope it would be cheap although I want one that protects otherwise it is a waste of money

Sometimes you get lucky and find a great protectant for a really good price, but most of the time I end up being disappointed so I've resorted to just breaking down and buying the better quality stuff. However, I do have to say that the V-05 spray works nice, not sure if it's the same one that a previous answer talked about, but it comes in a bottle that looks like a spray bottle, I would also think about getting Schwarzkopf's (in the Bonacure Line) Moisture Kick which is a really great light leave in conditioner that I use before any heat protectant products....it's one of the products I really swear by. The CHI line also carries a couple of heat protectants that work really well because they are made for people who use irons daily. You can get most of these in a regular beauty supply store for not too much, but it's worth trying if you want to keep your hair healthy. Good luck!

I use Ion Heat Protection I buy it at Sally Beauty Supply. Its $5.99 for 8 Oz.

The directions say spray onto dry hair and before your iron it. Then repeat the process section by section. DO NOT follow this. From my own personal experience you get a waxy end result. What I do and my stylist recommended was put your hair in a half up do. and use 2 pumps. then straighten and when you do the top half use 2 or 3 more. You should use about 5-6 pumps a day. I bought my first bottle in March and Im barely half way threw the bottle.

Hmm, the expensive ones can be good (trevor sorbie "straightening addict") but my favorite cheep one is VO5 Straight and Smooth "heat defense taming spray". It comes in a red can and it's actually great, it makes your hair nice and silky and i've noticed less split ends.
if your hair is getting really damaged by straighteners (like mine!) then i'd also recommend rubbing a tiny bit of serum into your hair before straightening. a little goes a long way and as long as you don't do it right by the top roots it shouldn't make it greasy. Try Schwarzkopf "Supersoft frizz-tamer". It comes in a white tube, try Savers/Superdrug/Wilkinsons.
Enjoy :)
