3/4 a pound per person?? Ha! You have better plan on 1 to 11/2 per person. Let's face it. Turkey is the reason for the dinner. If I had my way, I would eat just turkey, gravey, and dessert.

The best thing to do, if you can, is get a 35+ pound turkey. Thaw it ahead of time, not the day of! If your oven can handle it, why not get two 20 pounders like someone else suggested. Cook one the day before, and the other the morning of Thanksgiving.

Q: How big a turkey should you buy? A: Depending on how much you want to have for leftovers, you should plan on 1 to 1 1/2 pounds per person. No one's going to eat a full pound of turkey, but this takes into account the bones, skin, giblets, and juices that cook off during roasting. Q: How much stuffing should you make? A: About one cup per person. Q: How much gravy should you make? A: At least 1/2 cup per person. Here's a chart of how long to cook your bird, according to size. Oh, look! One 3 times as big (30 pounds compared to 10 pounds) only takes another 1 to 2 hours to cook! Net Weight (lbs.) | Unstuffed (hours) | Stuffed (hours) 10 to 18 3 to 3-1/2 3-3/4 to 4-1/2 18 to 22 3-1/2 to 4 4-1/2 to 5 22 to 24 4 to 4-1/2 5 to 5-1/2 24 to 30 4-1/2 to 5 5-1/2 to 6-1/4

One you have decided on the type of turkey you want to buy,you can figure on 1 pound of turkey per person. If the turkey is prestuffed, allow 1-1/4 pounds per person. This will provide generous servings with enough left over for second day dishes.

you have to think that just because the sticker on a turkey says 20 pounds, that the bones take up a lot of space and weight in there..so you have to figure around 3/4 to 1 pound of meat per person..so I would get some where around a 26 or larger ....

sounds like your having a ton of fun on thanksgiving..great for you..

god luck

How much should I Buy?

3/4 of a pound of raw turkey per person will usually do the trick, however I recommend 1+ pound per person to allow for leftovers.
