There is a big debate in El Paso concerning red light cameras, the pros and cons, and mainly here the fact that the Mexican plated vehicles are not subject to any fines or penalties, just the American plated vehicles. Any cities out there with any input????? Police input????

You get tickets for 'infractions' you could have committed with a cop on your tail! The cameras don't show the guy hitting his brakes in the intersection, leaving you in the middle saying cheese, for instance. By the time you get the ticket, you don't even remember driving there, so what defense do you have? Besides, they make people drive crazy--stopping for stale green lights, racing because a light turned yellow--all because there is a camera there and not a man who can decide whether you are driving safely or not.

I'll bet your city could get a discount on the cameras if they asked insurance companies to help--they love those things!

I''m against the whole premise of photo violations if there is no provision for identification of the driver. The fact that it records the tag number and the make and model of vehicle in a photograph doesn't mean the owner of the car was driving it.
To me it goes against the right to due process and the right to confront your accuser.

Cameras are the best thing invented . It shows every bodies license plates along with whats going on inside of a vehicle. Kidnapping or rape, or someone being harrassed, or shot. Its not just El paso its all over the nation that has this.

It's a crying shame. This is what greed has brought us to. Through GREED they have forced us to completely alter the way the LAW says we should drive. THEY'RE FORCING US TO TREAT YELLOW LIGHTS AS THOUGH THEY'RE RED!!!

Its about greed..money for the cities*
*numerous studies have found that cities often adjust the yellow light timer to insure that no car can make it thru the intersection before the red light camera snaps its photo -->your fine
No one has proven that accidents /deaths have been reduced...

If they get the reckless drivers fined, or off the streets, GOOD. If you have a child killed by one of those jerks, you'd want more than just cameras. Machine guns on each corner!

I think it's good because then people think before running a red light, but im Nebraska they dont have them but where I live we have cops sometimes sit by the lights to see who runs them that seems to work just fine.

Pure money generators. A lazy police administrations method to avoid hiring more traffic cops. Nothing else
