I can't hardly sleep anymore! o.k. my kids should be over that stage of not sleeping at night fully but all of a sudden...my youngest who is 2 almost 3 keeps getting up and saying my name and coming in my room and disturbing me through the night...I have to almost whip him everynight just for him to stay in his room. I've tried watching tv with him, rubbing his back, taking him a warm bath, ect. I don't get a good night's rest and he doesn't want to get up in the morning...What can I do?

He's tiring me out..I put him to bed and he gets out like 20 times a night...through out the night just for nothing...he makes up something like, my bobo hurts and it's a scratch that has healed, or mom my bed has superman on it, or mom I want to watch Robots, and robots might be playing...This go on through out the whole night...

We had this problem and had to call a helpline to get advice so we wouldn't go crazy.
we have to be firm and show them who is the boss.
Don't let him sleep during the day and by night play so he can get tired. He will try and win the first few nights but be firm and do not bend. If you bend you loose. You will have to put him in bed and leave the room and let him know you are around, but do not bend.
Prepare to have the worst few nights and if you do not give in he will learn. Don't let him stay in bed next morning.
We lived in england and there should be some help at reach wherever you are. Talk to other parents!

Well don't whip him :-)

Just be firm with him. If he gets up, put him right back in his bed. Don't say anything just lay him down. If he gets up again do the exact same thing. Eventually he will either tire himself out or give in and go to sleep.

my son will be 3 in 4 months. he was doing the same thing. is your son potty trained yet? when i started potty training my son over the summer he would get up many times in the night. it took me a couple of weeks to realize he was getting up to go pee and he was still new at the pottying thing that he still needed my help when half asleep. he still gets up at night, but most often makes it to the bathroom by himself. if your son is not potty trained or in the middle of training this might still be the case. like, he has to go and it wakes him up, but he doesn't understand why. it's just a guess.

i had this problem when mine were younger too...they just never wanted to be away from me (they were afraid of their real father) so what i did was to sit in my room one time they were taking a nap and i recorded on a tape recorder me singing the alphabet over and over till the tape was over....then on the other side i counted from 1-20 over and over till the tape ended.....i would play the tape at night when they were going to sleep...they could hear my voice and learn alot faster.....it really worked like a charm!!!!
