Or at least make him pretty happy. If possible, under $100.

(He has a bike already.)

I guess I should have originally included that my son has had a very rough year medically and personally (mom and dad divorced). So I just wanted him to forget about all that for one morning.

Does he like trains? My boys love them....Thomas the Tank engine! You could buy a pretty good set for 100.00.

I will let you in on a little secret. Children between the ages of say 2 through 8 love everything! I have raised 3 daughters, now have 6 grandchildren and I am raising 2 of them, and never once have I ever seen a child that age get disappointed with any Christmas gift.

You know your son best so you know what kinds of things he will enjoy. Now all you have to do is go shopping. I remember once when my oldest child was 2 and my husband and I were flat broke at Christmas time, we walked into a store that was going out of business and they had all kinds of blow up toys for a dime. We bought one of everything and spent about $15.00. We spent all night Christmas blowing those darn things up. She got a few other things too but she loved all of the blow up toys.

You son is going to be happy no matter what on Christmas day and the shear excitement of the day, the presents and the things that Santa has left, are going to knock his socks off.

Take him to church, and teach him what Christmas is really about. Teach him about giving to others. Adopt a needy family for Christmas, and let him pick out a few things for the child/children of the family. Presents are fun, but there is so much more to Christmas. By all means, give your son presents, but don't make that the emphasis. A five year old doesn't need his socks knocked off!

Knock his socks off? Well if you do that, you better be prepared to do that every year with more expensive and elaborate gifts. He's going to expect something like that for now on...

I say you should get him a pet or something he can take care of and bond with. There is so much rewarding and positive behaviors gained with the responsibility of owning a pet.

Ask HIM what he wants...how do we know what we answer will "knock his socks off"? We don't know the kid or what he likes. Ask him what he wants, and when he gets it, he'll be happy.

a sock nockeroffer, hey he is five he shouldn't be that hard to please, when in doubt ask, or listen really hard. Kids know its Christmas time they are always shouting out when they see what they want

I've seen them somewhere a little over $100 but if you do get him one, make sure you're with him when he's bouncing.
