There is an Iraqi army- it is working with the other countries to begin taking it's rightful place. It's still in training and part of the reason we are still in the Country. Civilians get killed when a country is at war- as well as insurgents and terrorists- its war and it sucks. We all hope to let the people there take their own land, government and pwer back so we can go home-they will have their own forms of democracy- not our western version- and that's ok- its not our belief system or our world but we must respect that and perhaps give them a chance at more freedom and a more beneficial life. No one is out to kill civilians though-could you do that if you were there? Most military are good people doing a hard job-

There are actually a lot of armies in Iraq, although they are not all the same. There's part of the Iraqi Army that have joined forces with the US, There's the Kurds who are still loyalists to Saddam H. and the Sunnis and Shia, who, to my understanding have been fighting for years over whose religion is more relevant, and how the country should be run. A cut and paste on Sunni & Shia:

The Sunni branch believes that the first four caliphs--Mohammed's successors--rightfully took his place as the leaders of Muslims. They recognize the heirs of the four caliphs as legitimate religious leaders. These heirs ruled continuously in the Arab world until the break-up of the Ottoman Empire following the end of the First World War.

Shiites, in contrast, believe that only the heirs of the fourth caliph, Ali, are the legitimate successors of Mohammed. In 931 the Twelfth Imam disappeared. This was a seminal event in the history of Shiite Muslims. According to R. Scott Appleby, a professor of history at the University of Notre Dame, "Shiite Muslims, who are concentrated in Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon, [believe they] had suffered the loss of divinely guided political leadership" at the time of the Imam's disappearance. Not "until the ascendancy of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1978" did they believe that they had once again begun to live under the authority of a legitimate religious figure.

I believe the uniform of the Iraqi army varies, especially between the different Armies. I don't think the Sunnis and the Shiites have any form of standard uniform, but I believe each "warrior" carries an small idol or picture card of who he favors.

Put down the pot pipe and watch the news. They show them all the time. Like most military now days, they are camos. It is the terrorists who are killing the civilians, not the Iraqi (or American) army. Yes, your statement about your capabilities in world relations IS correct. But it does appear to extend well beyond that area.

Very few Iraqis have died from direct actions of US troops. The death toll you see daily in the news is the Iraqis killed by the terrorists we are fighting.

And it is a shame that people want us to leave the Iraqi people at the mercy of people who car-bomb marketplaces.

I'm not a fan of the war by any means.. but anytime during war there are civilian causalities.. that's a fact, it will always happen-no one can tell you that we are only killing terrorists because we are not.. ever since the begining there have been millions of civilian casualites- I think I read somewhere that it was 50,000 civilian casualites- not 100% about that figure though

Here's CNN report about Iraq's Army
