Maybe you could set your budget at $500, but not necessarily have to spend that amount. It should be the thought & sentiment that is put into buying the ring, not the value money wise. You can spend $30 on a ring, and it can mean more to her than spending $500 on one that you don't really like.

Go for something that you know she will like, but also something that you will like to look at....... that's how my fiance chose my engagement ring (I know you're not going for an engagement ring, but just to give you advice)

I would stick to 500 or less. Set a limit most jewelry stores will be helpful enough to you if you ask them to just show you all the promise rings that cost $500 or less. Just try and and ask them when your girlfriend is admiring something else. That way she can have her pick and you won't be out anymore than you want to spend and you both will enjoy your trip. Have a good time in NYC.

If you want to just get her a promise ring you should do it on Black Friday, when alot of jewelry goes on sale.I've seen alot of the ads on Black Friday, and they have really good deals on jewelry that's usually very high priced.Yes $500 is a bit too much to spend on a promise ring.....try $100-350.....that should do the trick.oh and if you don't know what Black Friday is...its the day after Thanksgiving. That morning like at 5:00 in the morning most of the stores have GREAT deals,on clothes, jewelry, and TVs,and toys. You have to get there at like 5 though...cause EVERY BODY'S there waiting for the sales to start. They have great deals...just google Black Friday, and see what all the stores have cause most of the good deals end like at 11...so check it out!

$500 is a lot of money, you don't want to get her hopes up on something like this unless you are very serious. If you want to spend that much maybe get her a cheaper ring and a pair of earrings to match. Hope this helped.

$500 is way too much!

Hell, I'd be happy with a $200 or less item for a REALLY special occasion!

Why not consider earrings instead? At least that way you're not rubbing her face in the fact that it's NOT an engagement ring.

By the way, do you reckon you could send me the extra $300 I just saved you? I'm a bit strapped for cash. :-p

What are you promising to do with this ring, since it's a promise ring?

Are you promising to propose marriage later? Are you promising to be faithful, which you should already be doing if you are in a committed boy/girl relationship. Are you promising that you aren't ready for marriage and asking her to settle for that token instead of a proper engagement? What's the point?

The ring isnt all about the money it is all about the meaning behind the ring so dont worry about the cost just worry about the meaning of the ring.

Why does the monetary value matter? Pick a ring that you know she will like and she will love it because you selected it just for her with a promise intent. Good luck!

(and it's too much, not to much - fyi)

it's not the cost, it's the thought that counts..how long do y'all plan on being together? 500 is just to much, if y'all aren't going making it, NEVER set a budget, u always end up going over! trust me! i know this! just use your brain, and know that ONLY YOU can spend a certain amount of money!! think about those finances!!!

That depends. Does your money situation allow you to pay $500.00 for a ring? If so then why not, but if you are low on cash then any gift you give to her should be special to her.
