Its not beef, its lamb! Beef is used in Cottage Pie. Shepherds Pie is Lamb and usually potato. Cottage pie quite often has the old Moo Cow, Carrots and Onion. I think (but don't quote me on this, I think I heard it on cartoon network!!!!) that Cottage Pie is a Northern English dish and Shepherds Pie a Welsh dish.
