I was raised in a Christian home. My mom played (and still plays) the piano for church, and my dad was sometimes an interim pastor. He was at the church we attended in South Carolina, when we were between pastors.
When I was 13, I fell away from the faith, because of my bitterness regarding my father's death three years prior, and all of the other people I had lost.
For twelve years, I wandered in darkness, even ignoring the fact that God actually spoke to me.
About three weeks ago, I recommitted my life to Christ completely. I researched the faith, including the history of the church, and the scientific, historic, and archaelogical evidence that supports the Bible.
Surprisingly, it isn't the research that necessarily led me to God, although it did strengthen my faith. What REALLY led me to God was the Holy Spirit...there is nothing like the feeling of the Holy Spirit filling you.
Thank you for your question, and for giving me the chance to share!

Oddly, I would say I was born to be this person. My family was quite about religion until I was about 9 but the spirituality was always there. Then at 16 I took the step and joined the church. At times I think I went because my brother went. But I know that if I didn't go then I probably wouldn't. Not because I don't believe, but because of the spectacle the church makes when you do.
Anyway, education led me to more education and then more education to more and more faith. I find it hard to believe when you're ignorant to the reasons for belief.
I find myself separate from most because I've never felt a call. With me God has just been, like the existence of family or land being on the earth. I usually feel the draw, or like a steering in particular directions. So every step is a brick in the house.

I realize you aksed specifically for Christians to post and I hope you'll forgive the intrusion.
I came to the church when I was about 14 years old. I was lonely and sad, but found hope and happiness in the community of christians that I fell into. After a time I realized that what I had found was a community and not God. As I grew, I discovered the many inconistancies in the teachings of the church and gradually, but surely became an agnostic.
I am grateful for the comfort, but now realize that it is the people and not some supernatural being that matters.

I had many events in my life that led me to Christ. I then backslid and strayed for a while and went through a depression. While trying to recover from a clinical depression I saw an episode of MASH called Blood Brothers and have been back on ever since. I have been a world traveler and lecturer, been Christian and Atheist, I am a research Scientist, have worked with prisoners (some mass murders), held the hand of many dieing people and even dug graves for some of them.....Believe me there is a God

The word of God goes way beyond Jesus Christ Superstar. Expand your horizons.
If this is what it took to open your mind it is good. Life is good with the right direction.

I at first was an orthodox jews and left Yisra'el when I was 9 when my dad considered it too much dangerous to stay there. In India I was quite alone since I did not know their language very well and my english too was not that good. Then one a man arrived in our house his name, he too was a jew but a messianic jew he preached for the first time but my father would not listen to him, my mother was quite touched by the story of the " Son of God" coming down on earth and saving us all. Then after some days my mother took me to him, I and mom accepted Jesus as our saviuor but we kept on praying for and after 3 yrs our Father too received Christ as his saviuor.
I really accepted him three years ago, 5 yrs after the first acceptance.
Now we are planning to go back home after some years for my marriage and we are going to settle there so pray for me and my family to preach the good news there.
My name is Alexei Karpin-Mizrahi.

My mom was raised Catholic and went to Catholic schools in the 50's and 60's when they were VERY strict. She (mom) did not force religion down our throats as it was forced down hers. Mom let us find our own way to God.
I remember the Church across the street from my suburb home had Vacation Bible School 2 weeks during the summer and I told mom I want to attend, she said OK. I went everyday and I loved it.
I stopped going for awhile and I really missed everything the Church offers. I would go on and off but now I attend as much as possible thanks to my mother in law. I go to a great Presbyterian Church and I am thinking about joining the Church Choir.

My sister's death lead my parents to Christ. They in turn led me to Christ. God used people and circumstances, no matter how sad or hurtful, to get us back to Him. He doesn't cause this trials, we do it ourselves because of our own free will we make the wrong choices.

my epiphany came aroud the same age but it was a realization of the universe around me and not of religion . it lead me to be an atheist and a much better person . being an atheist is the coolest , no limits to my philosophies , and nothing but facts to support my belief system . good luck with jesus .
