not ALL tattoos heal completely in two weeks. it depends on the area of the body that was tattooed. my foot took a little over two weeks to completely heal. it itched and had a scab in places for almost three weeks. but it was fine. i just continued to lotion it. it's fine.

Your tattoo is still healing. Nothing to worry about. You definitely need to keep the area clean and moist. If it is still scabbing maybe try to use some A & D Ointment, for a few more days. Then convert to a lotion without any scents! Just some plain old regular lotion and constantly keep the tattoo moist. Keeping it moist will keep it from itching as much. If it's still scabbing and itchy in another week or so I would go back to your tattoo artist and have him/her take a look at it. If this was an especially big peice it may just be taking longer to heal than the average tat. Good Luck :)

First of all, what are you putting on it? Thing NOT to use:
Neosporin (it will actually take the ink out of your skin and dull the tattoo)
Any product that is not dye and fragerence free, these will iritate the sensitive skin below the scab.
Tattoo goo, that stuff is just aweful. Terrible for tattoos.
I highly recommend fragrence and dye free Curel, use sparingly.
Second, have you picked at it? If you remove the scabs before the skin below is healed, it will mess up the tattoo and cause other problems, such as potential infection.
Third, have you talked to whomever did the tattoo and told them about the problem?
Healing tattoos are going to be itchy. I have two tattoos, however they were pretty much finished healing by the second week. If you see any swelling or rash around the tattoo, you should definitly consult a physician.
Hope this helps.

I have 15 tats. First DO NOT put petroleum jelly on it. It is not good for the tat. Put something like Aveeno on it. A good moisturizing lotion frequently throughout the day can help it tremendously. Don't pick at it and don't rub it very hard. Pulling the scabs off can cause the color to come out.
Is it red, hot or oozing? If not it is probably just dry try the lotion. If that does help then I would go to the Dr.
Be careful I am severely allergic to Tattoo goo and stuff like neosporin and it make the healing process take longer.

Your tattoo is itchy because it is healing. The scabbing needs to be kept to a minimum or you will end up hurting the looks of it. You should be putting medication on it to keep it moist. Like neosporin or tattoo goo.

It is still healing. They normally take about a month to heal completely. I got an all black symbol in the inside of my ankle and it was still itching after months of having it. Just keep it really moisturized and it will normalize itself. If it keep scabbing up or you notice any swelling, redness or other signs of infection, see a doctor. If you are concerned about the healing you can always stop into the parlor you had it done in and ask them to take a look at it. Good luck!

Are you putting a water-based moisturizer on it or a cream recommended by your tattoo artist? You may need to cover the cream with plastic wrap so it can really be absorbed by the tattoo.
This may also be a sign of infection. You should go back to the tattoo artist first and have them take a look. Then go and see a doctor if you need to.

Your tattoo maybe infected. You may want to call the tattoo parlor you got it done at and ask them. It may still be healing. The time it takes to heal, depends on the area you got the tattoo. Make sure not to scratch or pick it b/c you can pick off the color. Also, make certain you are using the correct lotion.

I just got my first one done on Friday night, and it is now starting to itch very badly. I got mine on the small of my back. I use Bactracian it is like neosporin but it is what the tattoo artist said works the best...just keep it moist and do not peel off the scabs. When it itches, try to ignore it but if you cant then pat it gently.
Good luck!
