i dont know if i spelt that right....
i am home schooled, and a junior in highschool. we do bible study everymorning, as faith is very important to our family.
this morning after a discusion on heaven... i realized that i was going to be me forever. that once i die and god willingly go to heaven, that is it. i am there for the rest of my life...
i dont want to live forever, mortally or immortally, i dont want to be the same person for ever. I can not stand the thought of living forever. that is a very long time, yet i dont want to die and just disapear into oblivian, because that scares me. i realize that at 16 death is not a huge issue, but it could happen. what do you think... do you want to live forever in god's kingdom... even if that means living for hundreds of millions of years, and never parishing...

It's a natural instinct to be afraid of death. However, some people such as yourself just can't imagine the blessings of living forever. Ecclesiastes 3; 11 says that " He has put time indefinite into their heart, that mankind may never find out the work that the true God has made from start to finish.
This verse shows we were not made with death as our destiny and even in infinity, we would not discover everything that God has done.

Dude (or dudette), I am so impressed by you. You show me a lot of wisdom. I think you're realizing at a very young age a very profound truth. Eternity as anything less than a perfect being would be a hell. See the thing is, we all groan within ourselves. We're imperfect and it bugs us. Consequently the world is imperfect. Something deep within us craves for peace....wholeness....completion. If a person could put these things in a bottle and sell it, he or she would be the richest person in the history of the world because its infinitely more desirable than sex, money or power. See, mankind was made perfect and the Bible says that all of creation groans to be made perfect again and the unveiling of the sons of God (redeemed mankind). You seem to have a little self-hatred going on, and i can relate with that, but listen! God says if you lose your life by giving it to Him, only then will you actually gain it. What does this mean? It means God will begin to straighten the crooks in your nature, He will fill you with peace, make you complete; give you the life you were meant to have all along. You are unlike any other person ever made. In the stunning variety of God's creation, you are unique! You have gifts to offer the world that noone else at all can give. A life given to Christ becomes magnificent, unimaginably beautiful....awesome to behold. Once you get a grasp of this, you realize eternal life is the greatest thing imagininable because it is in a perfect state. Heaven will not be boring in the least. Have you ever had a time when you walked along a field or on a beach and maybe a scent in the air or coolness of the breeze suddenly, for a brief moment almost brought a distant memory of something greater, something vague, beyond description that sends a thrill through your soul, something you've never actually experienced but seems to be a part of you, and you long for nonetheless? I believe these are brief glimpses into that other life that is possible once our sinful natures are shed. You think a high school crush is an awesome thing to experience? Imagine being joined in an intimate heart to heart union with such a multitude of other souls that makes the most intense romantic eartlhy love (yes, even sex) pale in comparison. Not to mention the relationship and love we'll have with our bridegroom, Jesus Christ. They'll be a government and leadership roles, and jobs to do. Remember, God is infinite and there's a big universe out there so who knows what we'll get into. I'm getting sleepy so forgive me if I'm not making sense. I'm trying to describe things that are gushing from my heart and its hard to relate. I do believe all of it though. Give your life to Christ. He'll give you a life and an identity that you will feel feel privilidged to keep forever. And come to thing of it, you won't be the same person like you said, because old things will have passed away and you will be a new creature in Christ!

I believe that your soul lives forever but that you have the opportunity to experience different lives during different periods for God. Some choose to return to Earth and some don't. I agree death isn't a big deal for the person who is dying -- they are going home to some place very beautiful. Our bodies only become heavy when we take on another life -- in Heaven you are light.
Before people commit suicide they should realize that they will return to the same situation if they do -- so it's best to stick "life" out to the end.

Every one will exist for ever. But only those who trust Jesus will "live" forever. Jesus defined "eternal life" in John 17:3, ""This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."
Those that reject Christ, will die in their sin and experience an eternal "death" as it says in Revelation 20:14-15, "Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."
Christians are born twice (once physically and once spiritually) and die once (physically). Unbelievers are born once (physically) and die twice (physically and spiritually).
The question is not IF you will exist eternally, the question is will you have eternal life or eternal death?

Do you want to live to 17? 18? Why? Most likely because there are many things you have yet to accomplish in this life or experience. Eternal life will not be boring, and I'd actually bet we'll be pretty busy. We will continue to experience and progress, just like we do in this life. So, if you're not happy with who you are now, work to change it, progress, and look forward to the ability to continue progression.

In eternity there is no reference to time, as if time never existed. You wont get bored or have nothing to do. It's hard to contemplate that since we are used to schedules and entertainment to keep us going. Heaven will be very different though.

Oblivion really isn't all that scary. It won't be painful, or scary, or unpleasant in any way. If there's no more "you" then there's no way for "you" to experience any pain or suffering. The problem is that you can't really imagine what it's like to not exist.
