Me leaving for work and no gun. I almost cried. Would you have backed up to the house or continued to work like I did.

depends on where you live and if you would have gotten in trouble for shooting so close to a house.

I have 4 deer in my yard every night (or day). Up to 30 in the winter There's a 12 point that hides around my house. I go out in the big wild and do my hunting. Why waste a perfectly good hunting season on the first day? Go out and enjoy nature a little. Make it a challenge.

Happens to the best of us! In Montana, you shoot a deer (or 4) in your front/back yard, you lose your hunting priveleges for 3 years! You did the right thing, and maybe the hunting gods will be good to you for it!

You did the right thing. I have a rule, I never shot deer around my house or property, I enjoy watching them almost as much as eating them.
PS unless its a monster buck, then kill it at all costs.
