Read this site and beware of "impostor"/scam sites.
You are entitled, by law, to one free credit report from each of the three major credit rating companies. If you space these out over the year, you can check your credit report 3 times a year.

AnnualCreditReport.com is the only place to get a free credit report. And they will not ask for your credit card.
