Well, I think there is a setting in Outlook where you can set that all mails that you read with Outlook will stay on the Yahoo servers, so when something happens to your machine, you still have your mails.

I've looked it up for you:
Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > (if you've set up an e-mail account) View or change existing e-mail accounts > (choose your Yahoo account) > Change > More settings... > Advanced > Check "Leave a copy of messages on the server"

Hope I've helped...

I use outlook for the following reasons:
1. My email account opens just by clikin on OUTLOOK icon
2. E-mail from different acounts like Gmail and AOL can be seen in a single INBOX on a single clik.
3. I can see my emails offline.
4. I can schedule a mail delivery.

Yahoo mail has GREAT spam/virus catchers. Outlook DOES NOT.

But, if you wanna try Mozilla Thunderbird, I think you might like that better. You can have ALL your email sites go to THAT, and instead of searching for all your email, it all pops up there, WITH great spam/virus catchers.

Outlook sits on your machine.
Yahoo! is completely online.
If you still want a client - get a Firebird from Mozilla :).
