No it is not a sin. The act is not a sin anyway, but the sin comes from where the mind goes during the act. often times, when masturbating, the mind will allow you to lust after another person other than your spouse. If you can masturbate without allowing your mind to drift into areas that will cause you to sin, you are fine, or if you use respectful thoughts of your spouse, you are fine. Masturbation often utilizes pornography at some level, which is lust.
Matt 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Many christians beleive that the story of Onan refers to Masturbation, but it does not. This story is about a man who did not do what was right in God's eyes. He was supposed to honor his dead brother, but he refused, and was killed for it. it has nothing to do with masturbation.
Gen 38:9 And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.

The Bible exhorts Christians to flee not only from fornication itself but also from all forms of unclean conduct that could lead to it.# (Colossians 3:5)
The Bible teaches that sexual intimacies should be enjoyed only within the framework of marriage. (Hebrews 13:4)
The Bible teaches that real happiness comes from giving—not getting. (Acts 20:35
Since masturbation will similarly arouse, rather than deaden, immoral thoughts, it is vital that you avoid this unclean practice.#
So, the bible will never directly say masturbation is wrong, or it wrong to smoke, but when reading a scripture, look at the principal of it.

This takes some thinking. I will say that it can LEAD to sin. I believe that if the options were to do that or to cheat, it is better to do that. However how it leads to sin is it can cause lustful thoughts that are sinful.

It's a sin according to the catholic religion and a lot of christians. Some Christians don't think it is. It is a sin because the pleasure of sex and stuff like that should only be done when you are married. Look it up. It's a sin to me.

no there is nothing in the bible to say it is
the only thing it may be similar to is when it becomes an addiction ... when it is becoming your God so to speak , when you are giving that more attention
otherwise .. it is perfectly fine and natural so dont worry
