In a shallow pan, bowl or plate, beat together 2 eggs for 1 min. Add about a 1/3 cup milk or cream (depending how fluffy you want them. Add a tsp of Cinnamon, and a tsp of Vanilla. Mix well. Heat a flat bottom skillet, frying pan to about 3/4 of the heat capacity. Add a slice of bread into the milk-egg mixture, turn it over, and place on GREAsed skillet. Do the same for the next 3 pieces of bread. Let the toast sit about 2 mins, and check the bottom - it should be a light golden brown. Flip over, and do the same to the other side. Congratulations, youve made french toast!
Mom's homemade syrup - so bad, but so good :s
Melt a 1/2 cup butter in the microwave till completly melted. Mix in a 1/2 cup canned milk (heated). Add a tsp vanilla. Add 1 cup sugar, and stir like crazy till all the sugar is dissolved. Poor over french toast, pancakes or waffles and enjoy :D

A cookbook is good. But not really needful if you have had practice.
I don't have a syrup recipe, but I can give you recipes for pancakes and French Toast.
Pancakes: Sift together a cup of flour, a tablespoon of sugar, about a quarter teaspoon of salt, and about half a teaspoon of baking powder. Add 1 egg, a tablespoon of vegetable oil, and enough milk to make a batter. The batter should be a little thin, but not soupy. Make sure you don't overmix.
Heat a frying pan with shortenning in it until a drop of water tossed in sizzles and dances a bit. Then pour your batter until the pancake spreads to about the size you want it, and let it fry until the edges appear dry and bubbles appear and pop on the top. Then flip your pancakes, and continue frying for another 15 to 30 seconds.
For French toast, in a large flat bowl crack 2 eggs. Add a tablespoon or so of sugar, about a quarter teaspoon of vanilla or perhaps a little more. Again, I don't measure. And add cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice (optional) to taste. Add milk, then use a fork to mix vigorously. Heat a frying pan with shortenning as you would for pancakes, then put bread in your batter, flip it over, and fry it.
Enjoy!

Well first for french toast you get a big bowl and then you put three eggs in it and then you add 1 1/2 of milk and then 3 teaspoons of vanilla. Then you butter up the pan and then you put the stove onto a little higher than medium and you dip the bread into the bowl of milk and then you put it on the pan on the stove and repeat.
