I'm a Mom. I do that every day.

Every morning I wake and tend the needs of my baby and little boy. They aren't even old enough to get out of bed without me. So even when I'm tired or sick, I have to get up and dress them, change diapers, feed them. In spare moments I'm preparing their meals, shopping, cleaning, washing their clothes, playing with them, driving them around.

It's a rare day that I wake up and decide to tend to my own needs.

I do everyday.

I have a 9 month old daughter.

I can't even bathe as much as I would like, let alone have my own desires and needs met. I'm rocking her to sleep as I type.

This is my only link to the outside world for about 8 hours....

No I have not, but If I have the opportunity to help someone out I always do. It would be silly to forget my own needs for one day since I need to eat daily.

I find that if I tend to my needs I am better able to provide for and uplift others.

It is God first your brother second and yourself third.
Now if God would have me do what you said then yes,but there are times that God wants to bless you and if you lay that down to tend to another needs you will still be in defiance to God.
The answer is acknowledge the Lord in all thy ways and let him direct your path.

No I've never "said" that to myself. I just do it. It comes naturally for me to want to help others. I don't need a pep-talk!!
