How to get these two to get along??????

My son is 4 years old and my soon to be step son is 5 years old.They fight a good deal and are ruff with one another.My son lives with us but my soon to be step son only is their on the weekends.My future hubbys says they will work it out but i want to enchourage them to get along even though my future step sons mother bad mouths us to him.

Treat your step son as your own son.
Make them get turns if they are fighting on something.
Have a good heart and take responsbalility.
Explain them they should be as brothers, and give them a lecture on what to do, and try make them have lesser contact throughout the day, and give them different things so they will be distracted from each other, and hatred will not grow in them, because little kids sometimes start hating people, and wish the person they are having problems with would dissapear, and it is hard to get somithing out of a kid's mind.
Do no let this happen your sons will not have good relationship. Try to give them both love and make them stay apart form each other, when they will grow up, they will understanding everything on their own.

I think you should get together one evening and have your kids sit down and you and your future hubby have a talk with the kids about them getting along.

When they are acting inappropriately, then you need to give them a time out. If they are fighting over a toy, take the toy away until they can figure out how to share.

make them respect one another, and set some rules around the house like no hitting,no bad mouthing,no disrespect towards anyone. and if they dont follow those rules you set in the house then take their toy privillages away until they get along and dont badmouth one another. and dont disrespect one another.
