It is the most intense emotional experience you will have in your life if it is a true broken heart.
Apart from grief from the death of a loved one.
But it can sometimes be worse if you are really close to that person. Although they are still alive, your partner is dead to you, they have VOLUNTARILY withdrawn there affection and love away from you which can feel even worse then if they just died.
Time does heal though.

You think youve lost everything youve dreamt of in life before you met this person
you feel like your world has collapsed and you are angry and confused
you want things to be the way they were and you yearn for the love that you once had soo sooo badly but it will never come back and the pain set in when it dawns on you that the fairytale you once had is no longer there
(its s*** trust me) but there will be a part of you that will always love that person (thats if it was somethign really seriosu and you really believed that you loved them) love is wonderful when the times are good but its shoots you and kills you inside when it evaporates
but in time the healing and re-building process begins until one day you will never be shot and broken hearted as you will marry your love and have a happy life
(good luck) (but I need some as well hehehe) :)

like being stabbed in the chest constantly, not being able to eat drink or smile. gets worse as you get older too as you start to realise with every broken heart its gonna get harder to meet someone new and can live up to the ones that have left you behind..... boo hoo.

horrible...feels like you've been punched in the stomach....feels like you cannot focus on anything but the person who's broken your heart, cant sleep, cant eat, cant stop crying, etc...these emotions take over unless you do something about it

When you're so emotionally traumatised you go between shock/numbness and actual physical pain, where you just feel like you could die. It's more than being sad, it's not even being able to think or function right.
Ouch.
