Your friend is over reacting to you.
We all have some points in our belief that we are mistaken in(she probably does not know her own errors), and we should not reject a brother or sister in the Lord because we do not agree with them (the main point is that we are trying to do what Jesus asks of us).
As far as gay rights, the Bible is against it (we are to love the sinner but hate the sin).
If you want I could e-mail you a list of scripture regarding homosexuality or I could post it here (send me an e-mail through my Avitar).
God be with you.

You don't need a friend like that. She obviously has no respect for your ideas and opinions.
The problem you have here comes about when you have a strict adherence to a set of religious beliefs that do not change or grow with the rest of the world. Do you feel it's right to persecute and condemn people because of their sexual preferences? Of course not. They're still humans, right? See, you think this way, but your friend sticks to the Bible, which treats homosexuality like some sort of disease, and the carriers as less than human. That doesn't sound very right to me, nor very Christian.
What I don't understand is why Christians pick and choose which parts of the Old Testament they follow. They don't keep kosher and they do work on the Sabbath, but homosexuality is a sin. Go figure.

I too am conflicted..........being a Christian I know what the fundies what me to think about gay rights...........Maybe it is not up to man to judge anyone but only up to God. This maybe a good example of why church and state should be separate. I do not agree however in which the proposed laws on gay rights read in some states. I'm ok with the "same sex marriage" verbage. What I don't like is the "state does not have the right to decide what consitutes a marriage" verbage. That opens up a whole new pandoras box.

Well I am like your friend, I do not believe in gay rights. I think she could have handled that a tad better and showed you why she doesn't and what God says in his word. If you open the door for gay rights, whats keeping others who wants rights ten years down the road. What if a pedophile wants to marry young teen girls. All they have to do is start fighting for that right. When the wrong president gets in office this one day can become a issue and there will be nothing the parent can do if the young teen is willing to marry a pedophile.

Tell her that she, too, picks and chooses which parts of the Bible to draw her morality from. And even then, most of her morality comes from outside the Bible. So, she's a hypocrite for calling you a "half Christian". There really are no full Christians according to that logic.
Read Dawkins' new book, "The God Delusion", for an excellent discussion on this issue.

Christians can do anything they want in the privacy of their own rooms but why must they have this compulsive obsession to publicly defame and diminish gay people.
Many Christians would have all gays treated as second class citizens if they could manage it.
The question to ask about anti-gay Christians is what are they trying to conceal from us about themselves by this extraordinary show of hostility to gays? it begins to look like a smokescreen, no other issue seems to arouse them to quite such the same extent.

Gays are humans too..
They can do watever they want in the privacy of their own homes..
And being gay means youre no different than anyone else apart from your sexual preference..dunno how that changes the fact that youre still human.
I would not however advertise that its a good thing to be gay.
I guess you need to show some understanding to your friend, whom you werent able to communicate your ideas to very well.
Shes just as scared as any conservative straight person is: that gay behaviour is not normal because it doesnt yield children and therefore she wont support it.
Im not in favor of gay behaviour per se. I do not like it and I would never support it.
but human rights are a totally different matter.
You manage to explain that to her, and all will be good I guess.

dis-fellowship is one of the cruelest forms of control. If you don't think like they do they reject you. I'm sorry you are going through that. I used to be a christian and I remember how awful that felt. Good for you for having a mind of your own. Unfortunately an open mind is not always embraced among the religious. (with few exceptions that is) Best wishes!!

I believe the answer is found in 11Timothy. A guideline for Christians to 'not argue about the small things', but to recognize the similarities.

all religions teach us to be tolerant of others i feel the negitive feeling against Gay's is brought on by today's religious leaders who cannot keep their hands off of young boy's. So if you treat everyone with respect and love you cannot be doing wrong
