My interpretation of my chosen faith (Christian) and "being a good person" complement each other. But if you're asking if a non-Christian or non-Muslim can be capable of being a good person, the answer is yes, of course. Being a good person isn't necessarily based on faith but with humanistic principles base on social contract. Whether a person's motive on these principles vary from person to person (IE: spiritual benefits, karma, just to be the best they can be, etc) and is their personal choice. I have friends that are "non-believers" that subscribe to these principles and act with accountability. And of course there are some religious people in the world that aren't necessarily benin.

I hold the act of being a good person more important . You can be a good person and not be a believer of any Abrahamic religion. I believe a good person will find favor with God no matter what their religion while a devout person who is not necessarily good could be rejected by God. I have lived among lots of good people who are Hindus. I do not believe they will be rejected by God just because they are Hindus. God looks at hearts not outward trappings.
Btw, I am a Christian.

I'm a Christian, and while I believe that both are very important, and that it is rather hard to have one without the other, I'd say good works are more important. If a person has never heard of God, and lives his/her life in a good way, s/he can still be saved. In America though, nearly everyone has heard of God, so they really can't be separated here.

I believe that you can be a good person and not believe in God. Personally I think to continue after this life you NEED to believe in God, so technically this is more imporant than being good. But I also believe that you can't move into the next life without being good... so I guess they are very close in importance...

To be a good person one must have the nature of God given by the Holy Spirit purposed by accepted Jesus into one's life and heart. People who don't do this can be good, but not hold the qualities of God's Holy goodness.

Belief in a God, or religion has killed more people than all the plagues that earth has ever seen.
My favorite is Northern Ireland where Catholics and Protestants have been killing each other for centuries.
Hello?
You both worship the same God who promises love and tolerance.

As a Christian I know that being a good person or any acts for that matter will not get you into heaven, Matthew 7:21-23 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!"
As far as one without the other when you fall in love with the Lord you want to do good because it is the will of my Father in heaven.

I am a muslim. To me, it is like this. A good believer in God becomes a good person because we have to follow what God has revealed to us and all that when followed makes you a better person.

the belief of god simply means you believe in god. satan believes in god.
being a 'good person' is not what god asked us to do. god asked us to follow his word, in doing that we become good people. being a good person is a bi-product of being a christian but being a good person does not mean you are a christian.
