I have heard this but don't know if it's true, maybe it's quite untrue, I'm not intending to be insulting at all in fact I would like very much to understand.

Muslims are 'people', you have to understand that they too have emotions like anyone else. The quraan does say that to get married is fulfilling half of your faith, however a marriage cannot be forced. Lots of muslims in my community get married because of love, I think this issue is more of a 'cultural' one rather than a 'religious' one.

Marriage is a requirement/duty/source of goodness/sign of love/appreciation.

And all that jazz.

Id love to give u all the examples of muslims who married in love..but love on its own aint enough to keep a marriage going hon...its love coupled with responsibility that does it.

Thank you for this question.

In addition to all the testimony of my brothers and sisters above I can tell you that Muslims are just like the rest of humanity with all the usual failings and successes. Love is a human emotion but it is also a gift from God to us - one that many of us fail to see no matter what our religion is.

Allah (swt) says in the Qur'an: (3:21)

And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect.

So if we do reflect on this we must realize that God wants us to be loving with our spouses and with our families. This can extend to the world if we truly understand the meaning.

And Allah knows best.

Peace and Blessings,

Salim

My muslim friend met her future husband online, and after much communication met in person. And guess what!? Yup, they fell in love (romantic love). Whew, coulda' been a close call . . .
I think they, in truth, nailed down all their values, interests, principles, etc. in advance over the internet and were fortunate that in person they were still attracted. They have a strong marriage and a sweet daughter.

That day on this forum an american guy posted a question (why muslims are very emotinal?) i don't know if you saw it but anyway no what you heard is wrong...We are very very emotinal people indeed and love, romance and mercy is our stuff but what i want you to know is we stay pure till we get married...For example a couple in love so they can't touch each other till they get married you know...Peace:)

No, certainly not. Muslims are usually more conservative, yes. but they are quite romantic, maybe more so than in the sex free society of western countries.

Nope , muslims are allowed to see and make a choice before getting married.

Pretty much - I think the sexual repression and 120 degree heat of the desert has fried their brains. No wonder they are mad at the world.
