I believe most of the time it is our bad choices that bring on hardships. God gives us the rules and if we break them we suffer because of what happens when we break them. Not because God is punishing us, nor because satan is controlling us, etc, etc, etc.

We create our own realities by the thoughts, words and action that we use and believe in. Granted much are imposed thoughts but we have freewill and choice to be the best that we can be. We reap what we sow. God does not punish, quit blaming. Accept personal responsiblity. What father would punish their child. What kind of twisted demented love is that. Controlled love is judgment not unconditional.True love is unconditional . Anything else is fear disguised as love.

"I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty one4s the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and UNFORESEEN OCCURRENCE befall them all." Ecclesiastes 9:11

I usually blame the devil Right off. Then I become introspective, and try to see if I precipitated it in any way.
God will chastise His Children, but I don't thing bad thing's come as punishment. My sinfulness can allow the devil room to do his evil. It takes me out of God's Covering.

This is the same quandary that King Solomon was in for many years, but in the fall of his life he said everything on earth is vanity. That includes our youth, our physical beauty, our wealth or poverty.Even the air we breathe is vanity.
Then he said, consider the works of God.

I have either brought it on myself or I just had a lesson to learn. There are no coincidences.
