I am 17, not living with my parents (not speaking to them either), and I want to drop out of school and get my ged. How old do you have to be to get your ged and drop out of school WITHOUT parental consent?

Stay in school! A GED isn't worth the paper it's written on.

In Louisiana (My home state) you must remain in school until age 14. That's the last I heard. However, to drop out of school before age 18 requires the consent of a parent or guardian. BTW. I was a drop out....acquired a GED in the military....started college at age 29....and now have an earned Doctorate.

You might wanna call the dmv. Our state gov't has put some new laws on the books in the last couple of years relating to this. I'm sure you can drop out now, but think you may lose driving priviledges if you do. At any rate, good luck, but if I was you, I would stick it out in school. Just my 2 cents.
