Hon, you just answered your own question. Let me add, I have this picture on my wall, a very good picture, of Jesus standing at a door and knocking. The door has no knob on it, nor anyway for the person on the outside to get in. We had this same type of door on our old house, it can only be opened by the inside. The significance of this painting is that only the one on the inside (us) can open the door to let Jesus in.

I think that you actually answered your own question there. We say 'let Jesus into your heart' because that is what Jesus says we need to do
'Behold I stand at the door and knock, if any man hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him, and eat with him, and he with me.'
Opening the door is the same as letting Jesus in.
'Saved from sin' really means 'saved from the power or effects of sin' we are forgiven of our sins and saved from Hell.
I hope that helps

David Israel,
You are a Christian. I do know that you seem to have some psychological disorders and therefore may not be capable of hearing dissent. Nonetheless, I must tell you david that I think this evil and deceptive form of missionizing you are perpetrating is degrading Christianity and the good, normal christians who practice it.

. It is, by definition, impossible for it to be "jewish" to believe in jesus. "Jewish" is, by defintion, what jews have historically and contemporarily believe. Since in neither scenario do we find "believing in jesus", then we must clearly realize that belief in jesus is not something "jewish". You can call it "biblical" (and still be wrong), but certainly not "jewish".
. On the side, the subject of Isaiah 53 is promised a "long life" and "seed" (i.e. physical children). Clearly this isn't about jesus.
. And Isaiah 7 is clearly not messianic if you read the whole chapter. and "alma" doesn't mean virgin either. You'd know that if you spoke hebrew (I guess learning basic hebrew wasn't part of your "extensive jewish upbringing", huh?)
. On the side, Isaiah 9 can't be about jesus since, according to christianity, he's the "son" not the "father" (as the verse states). Nor did he have control of the government (to the contrary, the roman government killed him). And he certainly did not establish "endless peace".

oh, and lastly, I've decided that you truly epitomize everything I find intensely intellectually unsatisfying about christianity.

Sorry - chum - you're literally not Jewish then - A Jew shall we God into his/her coronary heart and would evaluate letting Jesus into his/her coronary heart an act of a pagen. there is not some thing incorrect with being a Christian - why do not you admit that is what you're and not in any respect a Jew? You sound like an extremely dishonest individual to me - you may't be both a Jew and a Christian - yet I want you the perfect on your religious journey.

It's all about faith. To "let Him in your heart" is to believe Him and have faith that He is who He says He is and to make the decision that you want Him to be your Lord. To "be saved from your sin" is to believe that the only way is through Him. To admit that you can never be good enough on your own and to trust and believe that He, Jesus, took your sins on His back, He took your punishment so you wouldn't have to pay for your sins. To know in your heart that no matter what, you are free and loved by the King of Kings and Lord of Lords fills your heart. That is how He lives in your heart.

Jesus died for the sins of the world, and without the shedding of blood there is no remission for sin. Thats what we are getting saved from is sin. 1 John 5:18- We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself and that wicked one toucheth him not.
The heart of man is wicked, and without Christ in our hearts it would stay that way.

Jesus did die, and open up the way for us to become reconciled to God. However there are requirements of us. One of them that the Bible stresses is for us to get to know God and Jesus, as stated at:
John 17:3: "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."
That requires careful and diligent study of the Bible, God's letter to mankind, to help us do that...to get to know them.
The original Hebrew and Greek Scriptures had God's name in it nearly 7000 times. In order to get to know someone, the first thing you usually ask is their name. That also helps to identify them, just as we know that the earthly name of God's Son was Jesus, we should ask God's name as well. That helps to separate him from titles that many others have. Just as the Bible says there are many gods and many lords, there is but One true God. If we learn God's name, a lot of the confusions as to who God is and who Jesus is becomes clearer. God's accepted name is Jehovah. We must get to know him as well as Jesus in order to have everlasting life."
1 Corintians 8: 5: For even though there are those who are called “gods,” whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” 6 there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are, and we through him. "
"Malachi 3: 16-18: " At that time those in fear of Jehovah spoke with one another, each one with his companion, and Jehovah kept paying attention and listening. And a book of remembrance began to be written up before him for those in fear of Jehovah and for those thinking upon his name.
17 “And they will certainly become mine,” Jehovah of armies has said, “at the day when I am producing a special property. And I will show compassion upon them, just as a man shows compassion upon his son who is serving him. 18 And YOU people will again certainly see [the distinction] between a righteous one and a wicked one, between one serving God and one who has not served him."

Many hold him accountable, believe he took the fall, regardless of what we each do...how convenient and how telling.
