Adopting in the US is a long and difficult process IF you want a perfect white baby.
The lists are much shorter for older children, especially if they aren't white.
Please consider adopting an older child or become a foster parent to one of these children.
We are getting a 6 year old boy this weekend. His parents are both deceased and there is no other family. We are by no means rich, there are months we make ends meet, but there isn't much left over. The state does help with a very small monthly stiphen.
We are hoping all goes well and in another year, we will adopt him so he will officially be our son and no one could take him from us.
We are aware of the risk of this situation. Another family may want to adopt him. We know he was abused (physically) and there will be some behavioral issues. The state pays for his therapy and medical insurance, so we know he will be able to get the help he needs.
We are just happy to have another child in our home who needs a loving family to care for him!

Internationally yes, it can be hard to find a child that young, plus it is much more costly (nearly twice as expensive on average) and you're required in most cases to spend a few days to a few months in the adoptive country.
Domestic adoptions can happen from the day of birth, are less expensive, and theres generally no real travel required.
There are federal, and state incintives for adoptive parents, to help lower the costs. A lot of national companies, (such as the USPS and WalMart) offer money to their employees who decide to adopt.
You do not need to be rich, you only need to prove that you are financially stable enough to avoid welfare and still provide all your children with their needs. You will be monitored, interviewed, and references checked by social workers (when adopting from home or abroad) before the process begins, and there will be follow up interviews with you and the child to make sure everything is still running smoothly.
Generally if you can afford the initial cost of adoption, you can afford to adopt, according to most agencies. And, most agencies accept credit cards as a means of payment.
The cost of adoption ranges from 10-20 thousand in the states, and twice that for international adoptions.
Always always always use a repuatble agency, and get your own lawyer who isnt associated with the agency you're using (if you can). This helps protect you and the child.

To be for real, well I never adopted a child before but I have read up on some information. It is very hard to adopt a baby, or any aged child in the US. That's why you see so many people (including celebrities) going out of the country to adopt. But if you plan on going out of the country, yes it's going to cost some money. You don't necessarily have to be rich though. But um there are some steps you have to go through to adopt a baby girl. Hoped I helped =).

I've only known people who have adopted internationally. That tends to cost quite a bit of money. I'm not sure about adopting locally though.

you dont have to be very rich or very poor either you shold be financial settled and be in a position to support another kid, every country has different rules and regulations and you will first have to consult a recognised agency,
secondly you and your life partner should agree with the adoption, and thirdly you will have to take your own sons into consideration are they willing to accept the new addition, if they are, god bless you for giving some unfortunate kid a chance for good life
