Hi captain, I have got some thing for you which goes down to early history.

" Charles only spared the lives of those Saracens[Muslims] who consented to be baptised, the rest he put to the sword."--[History of Charles the Great and Orlando, by Turpin, Vol-I, ch-ii, pg-5]

"....460 years later, when the Holy land reverted to the Christian rule of crusading knight of Europe, the oriental Christians regretted the tolerating Govt. of the Arabian Khalifs."--[Rise and Fall of Roman Empire- GIBBON]

"....A bloody sacrifies was offered by mistaken votaries to the God of the Christian resistance might provoke, but neither sage nor sex could mollify, thier implacable rage, they indulged themselves 3 days in a promisenous massacre. After 70,000 muslims had been put to the sword and the harmless JEWS had been burned in thier Synogogue, they could still reserve a multitude of captives whom interest or lassitude persauded them to spare."--[Rise and Fall of Roman Empire- GIBBON]

The critical Gibbon coclusively proves that, "...to his Christian subjects, Mohammad readily granted security of thier persons, the freedom of thier trade, the property of thier goods and the toleration of thier worship. This profitable principle of toleration was observed with more or less strictness, not only by all the immediate successors of the Prophet, but over the whole period of Arabic ascendency."--[Rise and Fall of Roman Empire- GIBBON]

On the other hand..........

"....when Jerusalem capitulated to Khalif Omer, the inhabitants of the vanquished city were left in possesion of thier worldly goods, and allowed the freedom of worship. A special quarter of the city was allotted for the residence of Christian population with thier Patriarch and his clergy."--
[Rise and Fall of Roman Empire- GIBBON]

"....And Islam was tolerant not simply to the Jews but also to the Christians. The Christian church in muslim Spain was given large lands and considerable revenues, christian envoys were recieved with courtesy and allowed to take away relics of christian saints and martyrs from the muslim territory. GIBBON says in his Decline and Fall [of Roman Empire], that muslim rulers even transcribed an Arabic version of the canons of the councils of Spain for the use of BISHOPS in the Moorish kingdom. Haroon al-Rashid, the hero of the "Arabian Nights", planted in his kingdom a large number of schools, the head of these schools, his Director of Education, was a chritian named John."--[ The Spirit and Struggle of Islam by Prof. T.L.Vaswani, Ganesh & Co., Madras-1921]

You can judge it yourself as to whether muslims inflicted more violence or the Christians ?

And you know about modern history and who is responsible for killing lacs of people in Hiroshoma and Nagasaki, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan..

when you look at it, its pretty barbaric...to see how nothing has changed, that people still argue who is more evil ...whos god is better...and which extemist culture can kill the most for that belief.
And to sit back and see millions of people being led into nothing but lies and deception.
One who is Muslim will believe that they are the correct religion and One who is Christian will believe they are the correct religion
Both religions believing the same God only different saviors, both religions started around the same time frame.
The Jews believe they are the choosen children of the same God which increases the tension even more.( i take that as them saying they have more authority than any other religion)
What you gotta look at is who started this crap to begin with? Who really wrote the bible, why is every interpretation simular but different to everyone? Why is there so much deception? Why would the Vatician hide any proof that christ did exist and not display everything for all mankind to witness? Why are there supposed books left out of the bible? If they are going to tell the story, lets hear it all.
I say if you want peace in this world, you must start it by banning religion altogether...Start with the Genocide the jewish king ordered when he found there was competition when jesus came.
Then look at all the genocide that took place during the christian crusades.entire towns of pagans were destroyed and everyone slaughtered .the witch hunts and now its showdown between Christianity and Muslims
Just cant kill enough in gods name i suppose.
Who ever perpetuates the lies of religions is that cause you speak of. Its the ones who created religion that are to blame..

First answer Kari got it mostly right. Also, post early Catholic Rome did a lot of damage with the insane Crusades. Then Protestant England went toe to toe with Catholic France. So over the long stretch Christianity gave a lot of bloody noses.

Today, in a very short span of time, delusional Mr. Bush provoked Islam with the Iraq invasion. Negative radicalism in any religion is bad news all the way around.

Muslims by far. You must remember that the Crusades were undertaken in response to Muslims control of the Holy Lands and their treatment of pilgrims to that area. They were a defensive gesture. Even if you take into account the murders of French Protestants by Catholics prior to the Edict of Nantes, Muslim violence has been worse. And all one has to do now is look at the headlines to see who is responsible for most of the current violence and it's obvious.

I would have to say Christains:

- Reconquista lated 8 centuries
- The Crusades (so called Holy War) lasted from 200+ years
- The War on Terror (really war between Islamic extremeist and the Zionist imperials) So far Christian has caused the higher body count.
- Persecution of people deemed as 'witches' lasted many centuries.
- French Wars of Religion lasted 36 years
- Daughter of Henry 8th killing people who refused to reconvert from Anglican to Catholics.

Captain Macaroni,
This answer is not intended for this particular question, but an answer to a question you had a few weeks ago: How could God have created Daytime before creating the Sun? Any takers on this?

Id just like to offer you my religion's answer (Jehovah's Witneses) ; its up to you to accept it or not. (it also answers your "best answer's" question on how plants could exist before the sun or whatnot.

Land Plants on Third "Day"

18 The Bible account adds: "'Let the earth cause grass to shoot forth, vegetation bearing seed, fruit trees yielding fruit according to their kinds, the seed of which is in it, upon the earth.' And it came to be so."-Genesis 1:11.

19 Thus by the close of this third creative period, three broad categories of land plants had been created. The diffused light would have become quite strong by then, ample for the process of photosynthesis so vital to green plants. Incidentally, the account here does not mention every "kind" of plant that came on the scene. Microscopic organisms, water plants and others are not specifically named, but likely were created on this "day."

Fourth "Day"

20 "'Let luminaries come to be in the expanse of the heavens to make a division between the day and the night; and they must serve as signs and for seasons and for days and years. And they must serve as luminaries in the expanse of the heavens to shine upon the earth.' And it came to be so. And God proceeded to make the two great luminaries, the greater luminary for dominating the day and the lesser luminary for dominating the night, and also the stars."-Genesis 1:14-16; Psalm 136:7-9.

21 Previously, on the first "day," the expression "Let light come to be" was used. The Hebrew word there used for "light" is 'ohr, meaning light in a general sense. But on the fourth "day," the Hebrew word changes to ma·'ohr´, which means the source of the light. Rotherham, in a footnote on "Luminaries" in the Emphasised Bible, says: "In ver. 3, 'ôr ['ohr], light diffused." Then he goes on to show that the Hebrew word ma·'ohr´ in verse 14 means something "affording light." On the first "day" diffused light evidently penetrated the swaddling bands, but the sources of that light could not have been seen by an earthly observer because of the cloud layers still enveloping the earth. Now, on this fourth "day," things apparently changed.

22 An atmosphere initially rich in carbon dioxide may have caused an earth-wide hot climate. But the lush growth of vegetation during the third and fourth creative periods would absorb some of this heat-retaining blanket of carbon dioxide. The vegetation, in turn, would release oxygen-a requirement for animal life.

23 Now, had there been an earthly observer, he would be able to discern the sun, moon and stars, which would "serve as signs and for seasons and for days and years." (Genesis 1:14) The moon would indicate the passing of lunar months, and the sun the passing of solar years. The seasons that now "came to be" on this fourth "day" would no doubt have been much milder than they became later on.-Genesis 1:15; 8:20-22.

Neither. The people who caused the violence, were not true followers of their faith. They just used religion as an excuse.
