Ive said this so many times over and over..

anything you do for God...in name of religion NEEDS to be done without any personal gain inmind.

be it..appraisal..power...money etc

when people act on their behalf and call those actions as actions that are done for God, theyre being hypoccrates.

so youve seen a bunch of hypoccrates..not really religious people.

May God protect us from such people.

Amen

You should realize several things. First of all people are of different religions. Second of all when you see the acts of religious people you are only seeing the out of the ordinary acts like when you see a terrorist who is a Muslim or an Irish Republican Army member or something like that makes the news. Third of all you should realize that people are people no matter what religion they have or don't have.

That having been said, if you were to listen to the testimonies of Christians who have been born again by the Holy Spirit of God and you were able to compare how they used to live to how they now live a changed life you might want to find out a little more about it and end up getting saved.

I used to be a drunkard and a fornicator for all of my adult life before I became a Christian. Now I don't drink, I live a life of sexual purity, and I not only teach Sunday school but I also go to the county jail and teach Bible classes to the inmates there. I used to call other people names and look down on them. Now I never call a person a bad name and I try to help everyone whom I can. That's all within less than 5 years of being born again by God's Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,...29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such WERE some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Maybe a better question is how open-minded we should be. We are so afraid of believing in one thing because it means not believing in other things. Being open-minded is not always a good thing - it's sometimes an excuse for laziness.

It is sad that religion is supposed to be all about love, and most people see the hate first. Nobody is perfect. We don't judge Shakespeare based on the quality of the actors - we look beyond the performance to see his art. Don't judge God based on the poor performances of Christians on this earth, either.

I have seen some very ugly faces being presented for Christianity also. You just cannot assume that a whole is bad based on a few bad apples. No matter if all you personally see is bad.

I am shamed that there are so many out there who claim Christianity but do not act it, not even in the least. The bible spoke of this, however, that there will be wolves in sheeps clothing.

Being an agonistic person, you are open minded and eager to get to the truth. We have seen and heard thing done and said regarding people of religion, to know God we have to be personal with him and religion does not make you right with our heavenly father.Jesus is the answer to your all you are searching for. He'll teach you right from wrong. Read the Holy Bible.(St.John 8:12-38).

The prefix (a) means indifferent. Agnostics don't accept nor deny the existence of
God. Open-minded?
Nevertheless, you can claim anything, and be an individual. You seem to be striving
for open-minedness!
Try being Gnostsic. (gnosis, to now). They base their determinations on scientific
principles of experimentation and observation, in order to come to logical conclusions.
Personal experience.

Your open mind is to be commended; most of the news that shows Christians today is portraying them in a bad light. Find some different churches and attend a mass or two. They are fun! See what church you like best/makes you feel comfy. I promise...not all Christians are bad or evil people.

Did you know that an agnostic and an ignoramus are exactly the same thing?

Anyway, back to the question. That's not being open-minded about religion because there is no grey area. Either you follow a faith or you don't. By being an agnostic, you might as well be an atheist.

By definition, being agnostic is not being open minded, since you believe that the existence and nonexistence of GOD is not possible to prove.
Religions and religious believe in the existence of GOD, they feel that they don't have to prove their belief.
You see you also "believe " in something (impossibility to prove existence of GOD) without proving it.
On the other hand, no matter what is your philosophical opinion about GOD, you can always judge the behavior of religious people if they are not acting according to GOD laws. But you don't have the right to judge them according to your ethics; they never claimed they wanted to follow your ideas.
