This cat has been in this tree for 3 days. It is sitting, sometimes standing, on a thin branch, at the top of the tree - probably around 3-4 stories. Can a cat survive a fall from this distance? The fire department could not get a ladder truck in the backyard and the local humane society laughed at the situation.

Do you see little skeletons of cats in trees? When the cat gets hungry enough, it will come down

Sandra is right and I will say that I have experienced seeing a cat in the tree in which the neighbor called the fire department and they came out just to do nothing. They said there is nothing they can do, they did tell us to put down a can of tuna and the cat will get the smell and come down. In our case we were too busy watching the cat so the cat wasn't ready to come down with a butch of people standing around..lol

Get a long rope and a basket. Throw the rope over a branch near the cat. Tie one end of the rope to the basket, and hold the other end.

Borrow your neighbour's rottweiler.

Place the rottweiler in the basket.

Pull the rope.

I bet the cat will be down that tree before you can say 'Here Kitty'.

Have you tried putting her food dishes out, with her favorite foods? And be sure to join in the eating in her eyesight.

Last but not least, get those things to go around your shoes with spikes and climb up the tree and get her yourself. I think you will need that belt thing to hook and unhook between branches so you don't fall and break your own back.

When cat gets down, declaw her fronts. Keep her indoors and under watchful eyes when given free time outside.

No a cat cannot survive from falling that high. You should call the Police and they'll send out a Firetruck to get the Cat down.

Shake the tree!!!!
Really, if the cat is just sitting there he/she probably WANTS to be there. If the cat is mewing & seems distressed then the humane society should smother their laughs, come back out, & get it down. If they don't, call them every 4 hours until they do. They will have to do something just to get you to get off their backs

If the cat fell and survived it would probably sustain significant injury. I can't believe the Fire department won't help. Keep calling the Animal control people!

well i would advise you to climb up the tree or anything.but the cat may survive a fall like that and may not.now you have probably heard that cats always land on their feet.well sometimes that is true sometimes it is not.well if she does survive and land on her feet you should immediately call the fire department or some thing because she may be injured.then you may be able to keep her.

get a ladder and go up there yourself I swear if you want something done you have to do it yourself. If i were you i would tell those as*holes at the humane society that you contacted you local paper to do a story on the plight for the poor kitty and tell them that the journalist is especially interested in their response to the situation

You shoot it! Naw just kidding. Cat's are great climbers, but not much at getting back down. Try a tree service company. Their employee's will have boot spikes and should be able to climb it. This may take some coxing though.
