I'm at home in bed with Hepatitis B. My whole body is weak, particularly my lungs. I cough a lot. Are weak lungs and coughing associated with Hepatitis B? Or is it because I am bedridden and don't get any exercise?

What can I do to strengthen my lungs during this illness?

actually, your correct in asking the question and the answer is, yes....you could have lung involvement just like some of those with hepatitis c do.

hepatitis of anykind is not just a liver disease....they only state liver disease because without the liver, the virus could not replicate.

whether it is hepatitis b or hepatitis c (two totally different viruses), virons are found all through out the body.

chances are you might have a genetic malfunction in which they term is alpha 1 deficiency...there is a correct term, but i can't think of it now....

it would be wise to speak to your doctor. hepatitis of any kind sucks. (putting it mildly).

ask your doctor about interferon treatment...they are having some success using antiviral chemotherapy in those infected with hepatitis b....

Do u have a history of lung problems...like asthma or something? If not, then it most likely is the fact that you have been in bed alot...Are u a very active person? You should start getting up if only to sit upright in a chair for a while...then increase activity as you go...like short walks through the house then eventually out to the mail box. See if this helps, it not please inform your physician of your new symptoms.
