i've run every windows operating system from windows 3.1 to xp pro.
i even got a sneak peak at windows vista.

actually all the 9x line (95, 98, me) rely on dos routines - windows is really just a front end.

The NT series of lines (NT4, 2000, XP, VISTA) do not have DOS at all. However you can still emulate a command prompt (cmd.exe) if you need 'dos' based stuff. However old dos games will not work very well unless you download a program like dosbox

This is true, its not up until XP where it does not rely on DOS.
