Encephalitis. More commonly known as EPM or Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis kills more horses than the racing industry cares to admit. It is commonly misdiagnosed in order to alleviate the fears of the public & investors of race horses! :o)

There is not really a number one killing disease. But horse racing injuries and kills a lot of horses. And many of them are sent to slaughter once they have slowed down.

There really isn't a number one, Colic is common, Founder is common, infestation of worms, all these are common. Why, do you have a horse? is it sick?
