Sunday isn't exactly a holiday, it is just a day that we set aside for God.

It started in the New Testament, in Acts to be precise, when the disciples and early Christians met together on the first day of the week to pray and remember what the Lord did.

It also has a little to do with the fourth commandment (remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy). This commandment was given to Jews but we remember Sunday for the same reason as they remember the Sabbath...namely, to keep it holy. It is the day on which Jesus rose from the grave and, as that is the foundation of Christianity, it is important to us.

I hope that helped.

did you mean you mean holy day.not holiday...
in a sense the ultimate sabbath is resting in the work of Jesus on the cross and not a day at all... but as far as the day

Jesus appeared on a sunday
Jesus appeared on a sunday a week later
Pentacost was on a sunday
The last book of the Bible given on a Sunday
Paul said to collect the offering every Sunday
Eutichus fell out of the window on a Sunday

in the end... Jesus said as far as the Sabbath is concerned I'm the boss... if the boss of the Sabbath wants it to be normatively to be on Sunday then so be it ....however ... it is not an essential issue and some chrstians disagree and that's fine

Because somewhere in the bible it is said that Moses allegedly received the commandment form God and it was that One should remember to keep holy the Lords/Sabbath day.
Someone said that it was the day he rested. The bible also says that on the seventh day he rested. Sunday is not the seventh day. it is the first according to our calendar. Saturday is the seventh day.
That's why. i would lose no night rest over it. I do not read the bible and Sunday is not a holiday for me just like Saturday because i do not have to go to work.

I would share something with you that the Sabbath Saturday is the true day of worship recorded in the Bible not Sunday. Sunday is a pagan tradition that came in when Caesar join the church. See link for more if you are interested to know the truth:

It's not a holiday so much as a day of worship. Some christians have Saturday as a day or worship. It really doesn't matter what day I don't think but we are suppose to set aside one day a week for rest and worship according to the Bible as God rested on the 7th day when creating the earth.

It's not really a holiday. It's a day of rest in remembrance of God resting on the 7th day. Funny fact, that was actually Saturday. lol And most of us go to church on Sunday and do not stay at home and rest. Interesting eh? I try and use the day to meditate and think about God and the direction of my life.

God worked for 6 days straight then on the 7th day he rested. So Sunday is the 7th day for rest and for worship. It's not realy a holiday. Its the day most christians go to church.

Early Christians celebrated Saturday as the Sabbath. Constantine, when he formalized Christianity as the religion of the state, changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, in honor of the day of the Resurrection.

In commemoration of His rising from the dead on the first day of the week, from His appearing to the Disciples on the first day (and eighth day) of the week. Etc., etc.

Following the example of the early Church.

A Holy Day, not a holiday. For Christians.

It is supposed to be a day of rest, a day set aside to worship Him.
He is holy and we need a day to worship and not do anything else.
I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a holiday but it should be!!
