It used to be that when you bought solid white albacore in a can you would get a whole chunk of first quality tuna. Now it is hardly "solid" at all. and forget the stuff they call "chunk light" that's just a step or two above cat food. Is it that other countries, like Japan and Saudi Arabia are paying higher prices than the U.S. for first quality tuna, and we are getting the leftovers?

I remember when even the cheap tuna was light in color, and tasted like tuna. You are right, the stuff they sell looks and probably tastes like cat food!
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that we are overfishing our oceans, and it is just not that available
Also, the idea to put a piece of tuna on a plate is new to most of America, Never used to see it in stores or on menus. The restaurants are buying up all the good stuff. Why do we go to a restaurant for a realy good steak? Try and find a good one at the grocery!
Just my opinion.

The way they process food today is different from the way it use to be. Nowadays if you don't purchase organic there's no telling what you may end up getting, it's almost like there is a shortage of tuna and they have to mix it or grind it to stretch it! Nothing is first quality anymore.
