My mom's dad (my grandfather) just died unexpectedly. I just woke up from a dream that MY dad died and we were at his funeral.
All day yesterday my mom was crying because she had lost her dad. Its the first time anyone really close died. She told me never take my own dad for granted and to start hugging him more.I can't really feel the pain she is in because I wasn't that close to my grandfather. I only saw him a few times in my life. But me and my mom are sooo much alike. But is it normal when your moms dad dies, that you start thinking about your OWN father dying? Simply because she's your mom and someone so close to her just died. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Hi,Im Taylore. Im11 Years old. I've been through the same thing your mother was through. I lost my mother when I was almost 8 years old.A friend said if it was her mom, she wouldn't know what to do.You're feeling empathy. You felt what your mother felt, its natural. Don't feel down, most people just don't care; then there are empathizing people. (like you) [The above comment was written by my 11-year-old granddaughter, Taylore, who has recently come back into my life after being ripped away abruptly only days after her mother's wrongful death and sent to live with a father she barely knew. Her dad was sitting nearby when she decided to answer your question, and he was deeply touched by her words. She has been with her dad and his family since November 2002, one month after her mother died on Columbus Day 2002, and she has come to both love and empathize with him. His wife of several years (and Taylore's new stepmom after her dear mother's death) betrayed him, so Taylore's young life was disrupted yet again by a stormy divorce and being sent to her paternal grandmother's home in a small town in Missouri, so she saw her newly found dad less often (he is trying to maintain a business in the city for financial stability)--the same as a loss. Her words to you were her own, and came from personal experience and from the heart. Hope they helped.]

Yours is a normal reaction. We all think about the death of loved ones, most often when a relative or friend dies. This sounds like your first experience at dealing with the death of a relative.

My mom had 10 brothers and sisters. My dad had 6 brothers and sisters. Everyone got married and had children. Most of my cousins got married and had children.

I am thinking we should post the family name on the door at the funeral home. My relatives and I are going to spend a lot of time there, in years to come. It is just something we have to learn to deal with.

Yes trust me it is normal to have dreams like this. Your subconsciously thinking about things in your dreams now. Like her dad died so now your actually maybe worried that yours will one day. Sometimes when were younger we do not think alot about death but when something happens like this then we do..it pretty much happens to everybody at one point in their life. Trust me it will go away.
