Kobe beef is very expensive. It is becoming more popular in the US, It came from Japan, the cattle are fed a certain diet, and given massages.
Caviar is expensive, good Russian Beluga is very expensive.
Truffles are expensive, supposedly the best are from France, and snuffled out by trained pigs, who can smell the under the earth.
Wines and some liquors can be pricey, it depends on the country, the year, how old it is, and for scotch, how long it was in the barrel.

Lobster generally is the highest. Most resturants will have you ask for a quote on the price. Although in Norway a salad is usually very expensive. I made a stop over there many years ago & was asked by a waiter if I wanted a salad with my meal? I replied yes. The waiter mumbled big spender. I thought nothing of it untill I got the bill $100 for a salad. Shipping cost was the reason I got. I still smell Bulls*** to this day.

Saffron is a spice harvested from the center of a particular crocus flower which grows in Spain and Greece and a few other places in Europe. It takes over 75,000 crocus flowers to harvest one ounce of saffron. It currently costs $35.00 or more per ounce, adding up to $560 per pound ( at low end of its price range.)
Beluga caviar, which is the harvested roe (or eggs) of Russian Sturgeon fish can sell for as much as $5000.00 per kilogram. Converted to pounds, this adds up to about $2,275.00 per pound.
Truffles are an underground fungus found in Europe, North America, Asia, and North Africa, and can cost more than $145.00 per ounce. That results in a price of $2,320.00 per pound.
These prices could vary by season, and according to harvest quantities, so either caviar or truffles could out price the other at any given time. If there's anything more expensive than these three, I don't know what they are...
