FIRST, It is impossible to lose weight in just one area of the body. You're still very young so I wouldn't worry too much, but on that note, a healthy lifestyle now will keep a healthy lifestyle in your future. The only NATURAL way to lose your pooch is through a well-balanced diet. Lots of lean protein (chicken, fish, etc.), green veges like broccoli and complex carbs (in moderation) like wheat breads, brown rice, etc. Also try to get some cardio in (about 30-40 min.) 4-5 days a week. Incorporate weight training. You don't have to use heavy weights, but by weight training, you increase muscle mass which in turn helps increase the metabolism and burn off excess body fat. And last, but not least, abdominal exercises; these will help define and tone muscles. An important note... If you only do abdominal exercises and don't follow a proper diet you will tone the muscle, but it will still be hidden under any fat. Here's a website with some abdominal exercises...

Firstly, at 13, don't worry TOO much! Just try to be healthy and enjoy your life! Your mates are probably teasing you more than telling you the truth.
At your age, if you want to lose weight, SEE A DOCTOR FIRST!!! You could do dreadful things to your body by getting involved in diets or anything like that. You're still growing and developing and you won't stop for about another five years!
Secondly, you can't lose weight from JUST your stomach - not without surgery! It is impossible to lose weight from specific body parts and no others.
I suggest getting involved in a sports team or something to start with - school sports are a great way to get fit and keep yourself healthy, plus you get to spend time with people and make new friends! That's how I started my weight loss in highschool - I played basketball and netball! If you can't do that, then get a pair of sneakers on and take a walk after school or on othe weekend! Just start slow and build up as you get used to it.
Also, take a step back and look at what you eat. We all know if we eat too much junk food like McDonalds, hot dogs, chocolate, candy and fizzy drink. This stuff is a treat - not something to live off! Don't deny yourself the odd treat here and there, if you do deny yourself, you'll tend to pig out on it when you do have it! A little treat once every so often is okay!!! Try to cut down on the junk food, and up the intake of fresh fruit and vegetables.
I hate to break it to you (and everyone else) but situps and crunches DO NOT GIVE YOU A FLAT STOMACH. They build the muscle underneath the fat, causing the fat to bulge and look MORE obvious! You need to do cardio exercises to burn fat off first, crunches and such are muscle toning and building, they don't serve as fat burners. You only need to worry about situps and crunches AFTER you lose the fat on your belly! Before then, it's all about cardio!
But please - consult a doctor before you get too worried about your weight! They can tell you if you are actually overweight or if you're just having the normal body image issues of a teenage girl. If you do have a weight problem, they can help put you in touch with people who can help you lose weight safely.

Hi, first of all think if u really need to lose weight right now.
You should expect fast height increase in next few years.
When you get taller you would already looks slimer.
I wont recommend doind alot of sits ups (more then 30).
Best exercise to lose weight is running and swiming.
An average person 140 lbs can burn up to 13.2 calories a minute if you run.
Or 9.0 calories a minute when u swim.
Swimming is better for your joints rather then running.
Don't try to cut down on chocolate or anything you like.
But eat it less e.g. once in two days.
If you decide doing sit ups make sure you don't push your neck with your hands. That way you will harm yourself. Keep it on your chest or shoulders.

This is a problem that most girls have. The best thing to do is eat more fruit and veg and drink plenty of water. After you shower aim the showerhead at your tummy and turn it to the coldest setting for about 2 mins, this will increase blood circulation and help tone it up. Before you go to bed and each morning before breakfast lie flat on your bed and lift both legs up perpendicular to your head, keeping your back straight. Hold them up for ten seconds then let them down slowly without them touching the bed, repeat this 10 times then do 10 sit ups with your arms behind your head, go back to 10 leg lifts again and alternate until you reach 50. But remember that you are only 13 and will stretch out and lose this weight naturally, you are too young to worry about something like this and your friends have no right to make you feel bad about it. They obviously have things that they are insecure about and are trying to put you down to make themselves feel better. Hold your head up high and act confident. Good luck.

Do a little bit of cardio-vascular activity 3-4 times a week i.e running, jogging, walking. Sit ups are perfect for a flat belly. But eating properly is the best advise. B

If you have a fat belly, the only way you can reduce your fat is by doing aerobic exercises. During activities like swimming, rowing and walking, enough oxygen is supplied to the body to burn fat. Fat is burned from all over the body, including the stomach. More information available at http://www.toloseweight.org/losestomachfat.html

Sit-ups aren't the answer, you put on weight because you don't burn all the food you eat and the excess energy is stored as fat. Just eat a balanced diet and get some exercise, the longer your exercise session the more chance your body will dip into those fat reserves and start burning them off.

Since you are only 13, you will get taller and most likely lose that belly. If you are impatient, go easy on the meals. You can always exercise (like sit-ups), but I wouldn't worry about it too much for now. Talk to your parents, also.

Unless you want to become diabetic or suffer all the other health problems fat people have, I would suggest a serious diet and exercise programme. See your doctor he won't laugh at you, and once you lose the weight your friends will respect you again. You are doing serious damage to you body and if you don't stop it now you will only get bigger.

You'll need to exercise your stomach specifically to lose fat from that area. A general diet will make you lose weight all over. Sit-ups are a good answer. But be warned, they can be quite painful to begin with if you overdo it! Or maybe that only happened to me?
