Clove oil rubbed on the gums around the tooth.
Also, at Wal-Mart, in the denture section, there is a little tube of medication, that
comes in a little box; called
Benzodine, Benzident, Benz-something??? You rub it on your gums when your dentures make sores. It numbs way better than OraJel or something like that.
Tooth aches s**k! Wishing you well.

Sure orajel is great, but there is nothing like Ibuprofen for a bad tooth ache or pain. I had a tooth pulled and then later found out that I had a dry socket i was very sick and had a fever and the tooth area was so painful. My dentist office called to check on me that night after having the tooth pulled - I thought the pain was normal. After the nurse asked me several questions she said I had a dry socket and called me in antibiotics and pain killers. I get to the drug store and was disappointed to see 800 mg of Ibuprofen. I thought I'd get vicodin or whatever. So I took 1 pill and couldn't believe how well it worked. That's all I use now especially for mouth pain and tooth aches. But over the counter is only 200 mg the pharmacist even said I could take four of the over the counter stuff unlike what the bottle says.

Tylenol pm works good. Excedrin Migraine works excellent. Feel for you, hope you feel better soon. That pain is in your head, so your gonna feel it no matter what you take. Try some clove oil or peppermint extract, get a Q-Tip and dab it on. Try to keep yourself sedated, and sleep.
