I have read that applying lemon juice to your skin can treat acne... but lemon is rare in the tropics. So, Is Calamansi or Citrus microcarpa Bunge also good for treating acne? Calamansi is abundant here.

I've NEVER heard that before.

Lemon juice is a mild bleach, but it is also highly acidic, which could sting your skin and irritate it, leaving it looking WORSE than before.

I'd stick to either store bought things, or good old soap and water - that's what my dermatologist recommended personally! It's a matter of playing around and finding what works best for you. It also depends on if there is a medical basis to your acne - like a hormonal problem, in which case, you may need medication and not just topical treatments like creams or lemon joice!

i would strongly suggest that you see your doctor because if you don't, then there is a possibility that if the acne is bad that you might scar your face permanently. if you have an unhealthy diet, then get healthy and see if it makes a difference. the toothpaste thing is a total myth, dont do it, because your face is most likely very sensitive since you have acne already. you may react even worst to putting a strong substance like toothpaste on your face. go to a toiletry store and see if you can find some cleanser for sensitive skin and try using that in the morning and evening for a week and see if if makes a difference. Ultimately, having acne is the body's way of expressing a chemical imbalance within your skin, so you do need to get to a doctor to rectify that imbalance either with cream, or with hormones like the pill (if you are a woman). sometimes it is an allergic reaction to something - i had a friend who got acne when he ate chocolate. worth thinking about whether there is something in your diet that may be giving you the acne.
