How do u know Wal-mart has horrible work conditions? What are you making these assumptions based on? I'm curious!McDonalds and Home Depot offer medical benefits and pension plans. Thats good stuff.
Everytime I go to Walmart I am greeted by very happy people as a matter of fact I was there yesterday.
You have to give us more information about yourself - because I would really like to know y you think what you see is hell. We live in a society that has forced two income families and if you find yourself struggling and you have children you go work wherever you can to support your family. If you don't like the work conditions in one employment position, you go find another job. There are plenty out there that are willing to train people.
Why are you judging others?

ok, I don't have any kids (i'm 41) however, who has a child and ever thinks they will end up working at Wal-mart? No one. People who have a bunch of kids out of wedlock don't have the intellengence to consider a job at all, and people who are low to moderate incomes, always think that their kids will do better then they did. People of privilage have college paid for in advance. So exactly who are you speaking of? No one thinks their child will have a dead-end job. Nor, do they have to. I changed from a blue color job to a white collar job. It doesn't matter what economical status you start out at, you can always better your life. I was a waitress, and although I sometimes made 300.00 or 400.00 dollars a night, it was considered a dead-end job- so after 20 years, I went back to school. Like magic, I am now a Business Management Grad student and work to help low to moderate income people open their own small businesses. Everyday I see people go from McDonalds to successful business opwners. If a person continues to work at these "meaniel" jobs it is by choice. Besides, you have to remember, not everyone is a rocket scientist (no offence to you) but you have to be smart enough to realise that a certain segment of our population is perfectly happy in this type of environment. It's what makes the world go 'round. Without these people where would you shop? Who would serve you lunch? Who would pump your gas? Who would bury your grave? Who would fix your car? Money is not everything.

There are terrible working conditions at alot of places, Walmart included. I don't shop at Walmart any longer. But as far as breeding, my husband and I sacrifice daily (meaning that we don't go to movies, out to eat, buy expensive clothing etc. because it cost money) so that we can afford to give our children the best possible education. My kids are getting 4.0's and learning at an early age how to be responsible when they grow up. My daughter who wants to be a vet is already being recruited by board members to volunteer her time so that she can learn before she graduates, and with her grades the way they are it will be no problem for her to obtain scholarships.
I know what kids are going through today with the peer pressures of drugs and violence and all the other evils of the world, my parents went through the same thing with my 80's generation, but I have come out okay. I think through their teaching, I have learned how to teach my kids the right way.
Financially it is hard for alot of people, and in Louisiana it is really hard because of the Hurricanes last year. There have been many lives torn apart because of that and many jobs lost, so alot of people can only get jobs at these places, which has made us have to restructure our lives, but in the journey of life it will be worth it at the end.

You started your question with "do you realize", the answer is: No I don't! Surely some areas are like that. People just need to learn to make good choices. In my opinion, one of the reasons for the terrible working conditions is because of the government regulations placed on businesses. Government meddling in medical insurance business has driven costs beyond reach for many, even making it impossible for some businesses to afford coverage. Granted, many businesses have and will take every advantage of employees. The word needs to get out so people will look elsewhere for jobs. There is no easy answer, but there is hope for sure!!

Some see the glass as half full, others see it as half empty. Everyone has the ability to make of life what they wish. There are scholarships for people, grants and such for those who cannot afford college but have been diligent enough to do well in the pursuit of their dreams. I have 3 wonderful children and I would never tell them all they have to look forward to is McDonald's. If they can dream it, they can acheive it. It will take hard work and perserverance on their part and quite possibly the help of tax payer dollars in the form of scholarship or grant money for them to be able to obtain the level of education needed to fulfill that dream. But I see the glass as at least half ful and I will do my best to make sure my children do as well. If you choose not to have any that is fine, but those of us who do ordinarily wish for and try to help them be the best they can be...even if that does mean Walmart.

Obviously you're upset with Wal-mart. I don't suggest working for any job that is below your qualifications. And working at Wal-mart should only be a beginners job, a pit stop on your way to something much better. STAND up and move on.

I am thinking you have some serious issues with your negativity. So the world doesn't regulate breeding. I am not sure you would be able to get a logical debate on Yahoo debates anyway. I have worked some of the jobs you mentioned, and yes they suck, but they also create character and in me a drive not to work minimum wage all of my life. Anyway, I am not really sure of what you are after in your little tirade, but I hope you find a little hope in life?

"And no, my life isn't Hell, but I see the Hell".
Most people choose to think thoughts of lack or loss, and they will use those thoughts to build the idea of poverty. It thus becomes a self-dooming-fulfilling cycle which they are living ....
That is why 90% of the people are working for money and only 10% of the people make money works for them.
It's your choice....
