I am posting this question hopefully such that Catholics can open their eyes to the truth of our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ. I will only present facts, and would appreciate your opinion on this.
What is blasphemy? The bible attributes 2 definitions:
1.John 10:33 “…but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” – Claim to be God or His representative.
2.Mark 2:7 “Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?” – Granting absolution (the power to forgive sin)
Now, let’s look at some factual historical quotes:
“We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty” – Pope Leo XIII, in an Encyclical letter, dated June 20, 1894.
“It seems that Pope John Paul II now presides over the universal Church from his place upon Christ’s cross.” – Auckland, New Zealand, Sept 20, 2004, Zenit.org.
“The judicial authority will even include the power to forgive sin.” The catholic encyclopedia Vol.12, Article “Pope”, p265.
Is it clear from the above quotes that Catholics are blaspheming against God? No wonder the beast of Revelations has the “name of blasphemy” and speaks “blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name”; this is because the beast claims powers that are the sole prerogative of God.

Psssst.........come here. Let me tell you a little secret. Jesus is not God. He never was and never will be. Another thing, i am not Catholic so don't feel that is my basis for saying this. You need to go and do research on the word blasphemy. Start with a dictionary. According to what you are saying then, Jesus blasphemed against God as well. Ohhh wait a minute. I have to take that back. You all made Jesus your Lord.
Well what else is there to say.
Instead of Contradicitng peoples beliefs how about you do some research on your own belief and see how much of what you believe to be the truth is far from truth and all things associated with the truth.

Wow! You raise a good question. I'm sure you'll get a ton of responses. There are other issues about the Catholic religion that concern me. Why do they pray to the Virgin Mary? Mary wasn't the one on the cross. Mary also had kids after Jesus was born with her physical husband Joseph, which means she would have no longer been a Virgin. While Mary should be someone to admire, I don't believe the focus should be on Mary. Jesus died for our sins and it's only through him that anyone can enter the kingdom of heaven.

there is a sense in which Chrsitians do things in Jesus name as 'embassodors for Christ' I guess it depends on the intended sence of those things.
I am actually also concerned about the erosion of God's sovereignity and the erosion of the views of creation in the new Catholic chuurch. John Paul II was strong in many respects but he sold the farm on evolution, he said nuclear arms threatedn the sovereignty of God and he was a Mary Maximalist... hopefully all things that will be corrected

The corrupts popes and the gang of previous adult males who REWROTE the bible in the time of the early years of christian corrupted Catholicism way extra desirable than Martin Luther corrupted the dept. Get off your extreme horse already guy, Catholics are the two as stupid as protestants for believing in god (whether their approaches are distinctive), so no could desire to be condescending in the direction of every physique. in case you somewhat had as lots admire for god as you declare you do, then you certainly does not be on line arguing with human beings for sure lots extra clever than you over what could be your faith (which might recommend you sense no could desire to attempt and justify it or declare it is extra valuable than somebody else's). in case you somewhat had admire for god then you certainly could be obtainable attempting to maintain some African infants. FYI: bypass google pictures > catholic tattoos.

Before you accuse anyone of blaspeme, you should include more then one line of your "evidence". Two, is your complaint with us going to a priest for our sins? If so, then you have a lot to learn.
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/11618c.htm
It is called a "sacrament" not simply a function or ceremony, because it is an outward sign instituted by Christ to impart grace to the soul. As an outward sign it comprises the actions of the penitent in presenting himself to the priest and accusing himself of his sins, and the actions of the priest in pronouncing absolution and imposing satisfaction
that penance is not a mere human invention devised by the Church to secure power over consciences or to relieve the emotional strain of troubled souls; it is the ordinary means appointed by Christ for the remission of sin. Man indeed is free to obey or disobey, but once he has sinned, he must seek pardon not on conditions of his own choosing but on those which God has determined, and these for the Christian are embodied in the Sacrament of Penance.
No Catholic believes that a priest simply as an individual man, however pious or learned, has power to forgive sins. This power belongs to God alone; but He can and does exercise it through the ministration of men. Since He has seen fit to exercise it by means of this sacrament, it cannot be said that the Church or the priest interferes between the soul and God; on the contrary, penance is the removal of the one obstacle that keeps the soul away from God.
It is not true that for the Catholic the mere "telling of one's sins" suffices to obtain their forgiveness. Without sincere sorrow and purpose of amendment, confession avails nothing, the pronouncement of absolution is of no effect, and the guilt of the sinner is greater than before.
While this sacrament as a dispensation of Divine mercy facilitates the pardoning of sin, it by no means renders sin less hateful or its consequences less dreadful to the Christian mind; much less does it imply permission to commit sin in the future. In paying ordinary debts, as e.g., by monthly settlements, the intention of contracting new debts with the same creditor is perfectly legitimate; a similar intention on the part of him who confesses his sins would not only be wrong in itself but would nullify the sacrament and prevent the forgiveness of sins then and there confessed.
Strangely enough, the opposite charge is often heard, viz., that the confession of sin is intolerable and hard and therefore alien to the spirit of Christianity and the loving kindness of its Founder. But this view, in the first place, overlooks the fact that Christ, though merciful, is also just and exacting. Furthermore, however painful or humiliating confession may be, it is but a light penalty for the violation of God's law. Finally, those who are in earnest about their salvation count no hardship too great whereby they can win back God's friendship.
Both these accusations, of too great leniency and too great severity, proceed as a rule from those who have no experience with the sacrament and only the vaguest ideas of what the Church teaches or of the power to forgive sins which the Church received from Christ

"Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." --Matthew 16:17-19
Why don't you try learning a little bit more before you accuse anyone of blespheme?

This is not a question, but a unsubstantiated criticism of the catholic Church. You are reported.
As regards to your question, I will give you a couple of verses you must have overlooked:
"And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
Jesus is giving His authority to Peter, the first Pope.
"(Jesus) said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit.
Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained."
Jesus gives His authoity and ability to forgive sins to His disciples through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The quote YOU used was spoken by the Pharises when they challenged Jesus (a man) ability for forgive sins. A man CAN forgive sins. Jeus was the first man to forgive sins and He gave this authority to His disciples.

For Conservative, the emphasis in hte catholic Church is on Jesus Christ, not on Mary. We pary to Mary to ask her to pray for us and with us as we pray to God. This is the same thing that you do when you ask your friends and loved ones to pray for you. Mary is one of teh "loved ones" we have in our faith community.
It is really funny when people say that "Mary was not on the cross". i look at the crosses in non-Catholic churches (if there IS a cross in the church - many times there is not) and your cross is empty. NO ONE is on your cross. is that you do not want to think about Jesus' sacrifice for us? Or you do not want to be reminded that YOU may have to sacrifice for your faith?
