Did he have "relations" with her so many times?

In their culture and in those days, it was important to have kids. If he hadn't had relations with her and fathered her children, it would have brought shame on her (in those days and in that culture). It was likely to have children more than anything else.

Must have been tough on ole Rachel all those years!

Jacob, as chosen of God as he was, was still just a man in that sense. Jacob was fooled by Leah and Rachels' father into marrying Leah. Jacob was suppose to obtain Rachel thru a work agreement that he and their father had. However, when it was time to deliver, their father used deception and gave him Leah instead. And then to, he did still have compassion on Leah. I am sure he did not want her to feel like a 'nothing'. You know how we(women) can get our way sometimes(via, pouting, etc.) when we want to. Leah was the one who was enticing Jacob each time. Her way of thinking was that if she gave him sons and daughters(because it looked like Rachel could not) that he would love her more. You have to remember that our ways today we nothing like their ways back then. Because Leah was able to deceive Jacob, she had all those kids by him. In the end, how about the way things turned out? Jacob, who was a deceiver himself, was in turned deceived himself. The Word of God says that what you reap, you will sow. May God Bless

Initially, it was because he was drunk from the feast which his father-in-law, Laban, hosted. He did not even realize that he had the wrong woman until morning (Genesis 29:25).

After that, he had to wait 7 more years to get Rachel. Not many men can wait 7 years to "have relations".

Apparently because... the first night he didnt realize it was her till morning... and then working for her father for 7 more years to keep Rachels... he was under considerable pressure

There are things the Bible reports without much comment and it doesnt make for approval... narrative is not condoming... it's just telling it like it is... Jacon cheated other people his life and it's payback time as God gives him a taste of what its like to be decieved himself that he will have to live with

Hi
Because they were married and the fact the he wouldve had to wait 7 years more for Rachel...
this is like God(Jacob) and Leah (gentile nation)
God loves HIS TRUE BRIDE (JEWS) BUT THROUGH DECEIT THEY MUST WAIT FOR THIER GROOM.
SO WE AS BYSTANDERS(LEAH) ARE BLESSED INTO THE COVENANT OF THE GROOM.
**Just a little foreshadowing of things to come. =]

Because she was his wife. (you probably know that she wasn't his first choice though). It was his duty as a husband to provide her with as much offspring as possible.
I guess his was quite noble :).
