As far as I know, yes. Alvi and Alvie are shortened forms of Alvin, which, according to at least one baby name dictionary, comes from a name in Old English that meant "noble friend" in various Low German languages (which includes Old English)

I couldn't fine Alvi in the baby names dictionary. Alvie either.
