I have been taking hair supplements for the past 3 years and here is what I have found.
GNC makes a tablet called "Ultra Nourishair" in formulas for men and women, the pills are taken daily, 2 pills a day. They are HUGE and very hard to swallow, if you have any trouble at all with large tablets, then I wouldn't recommend these. The 2 pills also contain only 1200 micrograms total of Biotin, which is the main supplement needed for hair to grow faster and stronger. You should try to get a minimum of 2500 micrograms of Biotin daily to improve hair's rate of growth and its condition. Even though I took these GNC pills for 4 months, I wouldn't recommend them because they are not the most high quality pills available.
ProCaps labs makes a great supplement called "Hair Skin and Nails" formula, here is the link for that
http://www.procapslabs.com/pcl/pages/pro...
This is in capsule form and much easier to swallow. This company, ProCaps labs is also extremely reputable and carries pure and effective products.
I took GNC's Nourishair for four months, and supplemented it with extra Biotin tablets daily due to its low Biotin content. I took 2500 micrograms extra Biotin with the GNC pills.
The Procaps hair vites have 2500 micrograms of Biotin in them, and don't really require extra Biotin be taken, but I do take an additional 2500 micrograms of Biotin for a daily total of 5000 micrograms of Biotin.
My hair is growing in thick and dark and quite quickly. My hair used to be very slow growing, but all of these supplements have really made a difference.
The only way to really change the health of your hair is by taking supplements that work internally on the follicle where hair is made, any shampoos or oils or other topically applied things do nothing to change hair's structure, that can only happen with systemically provided support, which means supplements that you take internally.. Keep in mind, regardless of how many or how much you take of any supplement, hair is never going to grow at a "Jack and the beanstalk" type of rate, the most you can hope for is to improve the strength and health of each hair follicle and to see an incremental increase in the rate of its growth.

Extentions are pretty much the only way to go. They do have clip on extentions, made from real hair, and they're easy to use. 1 set is about $100, and you would probably need 2. Still cheaper than getting the real deal at a salon, and you can take them out and place them wherever you wish. You also have the luxury of colouring them if you want as well.

How could you not notice that someone was hacking off your hair? There is no way that you could have sat down in a salon chair and not seen the scissors ready to chop up to your neck line.
If this story is true, then you basically got what you asked for since you didn't stop the hairdresser from cutting. And there is no way to get your cut-off hair back. Sorry!
The best you can hope for is buying a wig or paying a LOT of money for hair extensions to be woven in. And those extensions aren't permanent.

I really like the answer that the Lady gave on taking Biotin. I think it is a very good thing to do. I recently got my hair cut, cause i saw a picture that i thought was a very cute haircut. I thought about it for a month before i did it and everyone thinks it makes me look younger and at my age i will take the compliments. But my husband told me he hated it and so now i dont feel so good about the haircut and i feel like i need to grow it back now. He loves long hair. I wasnt too sure i liked it, and when he said he hated it made me feel worse about myself. Right now i am putting Knox gelatin in my coffee. I just open the packet and pour the whole thing in the whole pot of coffee and then drink till gone. I do know for a fact that gelatin is good for your Nails and Hair. But i think if i do this and take Biotin like the one Lady on here said to do, then in a matter of 6 months my hair will be down to my neck. Right now it is right at the earlobe. I thank the one man that said he thinks short hair is sexy, but everyone man i have come upon told me he thinks my hair is cute, but they also prefer long hair. So that isnt good for my ego either. Thanks everyone for the imputs, and to this person that originally asked this question, hang in there, time will get it back for you. I am right there waiting with ya!!!!

Get yourself to a better salon and get hair extensions! They costs quite abit but are worth it. They look real and you cant even tell the diference between your real hair and the fake. Just dont go back to the salon where you had the cut! I recommend going somewhere that specialises in extensions!
Good Luck Hun

You can only get your hair back by growing it. You can possibly get extensions for the look of long hair. Have you talked to the owner of the salon about your displeasure with your hair cut? They may offer you some help.

Sorry to hear your tale, hair extension is the only solution for long hair back in a jiffy.
But I guess why cry over spilled milk flaunt and enjoy the new you and the make-over, till the hair grows back to normal length. Cheer up !
