There is currently no direct train service between Inverness and Thurso due to storm damage. A full timetable can be found here:

You have two main choices : coach or train.

There is NO disruption to the train service between Inverness and Thurso, although the branch between Wick and Georgemas Junction is closed.

Strangely enough, it is marginally quicker by coach.

The coach service, numbered 958, is jointly operated by Scottish Citylink Coaches, Rapsons and Highland Country Buses.

From Inverness Bus Station at 1145, 1400, 1525 (not Sunday), 1645 and 1835 arriving at Thurso (St. Georges Street Post Office) at, respectively 1518, 1733, 1818, 2018 and 2208. Most journeys continue to Thurso Railway Station.

From Thurso (St. Georges Street Church) at 0700, 0730 (not Sunday), 0900 (not Sunday), 1100, 1315 and 1630 (Sunday only), arriving at Inverness Bus Station at, respectively at 1033, 1025, 1233, 1433, 1648 and 2003. Many of these journeys start from Thurso Railway Station.

The rail service is operated by ScotRail.

From Inverness at 0714 (not Sunday), 1039 (not Sunday), 1753 (not Sunday) and 1800 (Sunday only), arriving at Thurso at, respectively, 1102, 1427, 2139 and 2145.

From Thurso at 0651 (not Sunday), 1220 (Sunday only), 1237 (not Sunday) and 1621 (not Sunday), arriving at Inverness at, respectively, 1037, 1608, 1649 and 2006.

Do not stand on the station on your own. You could

1) Be attacked by Polar Bears swimming down from the Arctic after the Bearded Seals

2) See three-headed Mutant Sheep caused by the radioactive particle dumped in the sea (these sheep eat seaweed which concentrates all the heavy metals). Do not say or else to will be carted off to Bedlam (by 3).

3) Be arrested by aliens (actually American soldiers based in State 51). (I think they come to Scotland for the golf.)
