Cos I heard that eating one bagel was like eating 4 slices of white bread, but someone just told me theyre better for you? Does anyone know cos I gave them up thinking they were really bad and now if theyre good I'll eat them again!

Bagels are normally around 50-65 gm carbs per serving

Bread is normally 15-20 gm/ per slice

You do the math...

If your goal is weight loss, lose the bagels, as the carbs are quickly converted to glucose, and if unused, will then be stored as adipose tissue (fat).

Yes, a whole grain bagel is a better choice, but not the answer.

Hey there Georgie Girl, yes eating bagels whilst taste nice are laden with fat from processed white flour etc..
The other answers are on right track cos anything with seeds and wholemeal flour is far better for you, but again bagels are highly processed with high fat content...
Personally I wouldn't be eating many in a week, but as a treat only, same goes for bread also keep to the wholegrain types, you get far more benefits healthwise..

Maybe one, once or twice a week, and wheat not white bread/bagels is best. Between the two, a slice of bread is less carbs than bagels. If you want better nutrition, try other grains like rice and pasta as opposed to bread/bagels.

Anything with bleached and processed ingredients is bad for you! Try wholemeal or bran bagels and bread. These are much better for you. I eat bagels with seeds and bran in them which are much healthier than white ones.

If you live in England M&S has the BEST whole meal with grains bagels. If you live in the US go to Bruggers they have great whole wheat and seed bagels. They both contain a lot of carbs but they are good carbs.
