Actually it was efficient, what it wasn't was economic because of the economies of scale, too few were built. BA ran their Concorde fleet at a proffit.

It would be a shame to think that Concorde, a 1960s aircraft, was the pinacle of high speed commercial aviation.

Efficient, supersonic passenger transport is very achievable in terms of technology. We have learned enough in the past 40 years, since Concorde was designed, to build a much better SST. Unfortunately, politics will prevent it from ever happening. The enviro-kooks who are afraid of sonic booms and ozone depletion have the ear of the politicians.

It isn't! Super-sonic flight is a very mature and widely exploited technology which has been around for over 50 years. What it is, is inefficient.
