Be happy with your self first, just as you are. That way, he doesn't feel obligated to "keep you happy", and it will release a lot of load off him and when he does something for you that makes you happy, it's really a liberating kind of shared joy. Men feel most manly and happy when they are actually able to do things to make you happy. So if you are happy in his presence, then he feels like he caused it, and he will be happy too.
Love him, accept him just as he is, respect him, admire him, be his best friend.
I think those "just give him food and sex" advices are too lame, for a relationship of substance, I mean. It demeans both the man and the woman, as if they are just robots with buttons to push!

Impossible to keep a man or a woman happy all the time. Doing great to be happy half the time.

Show him you care just as much as he shows you that he cares. Women want to be equal, so show a man you're equal. Tell him I love you. Watch the football game with him. Ask him for sex. Just always smile and have a good time with him.
