I was at one of them confusing places in a city (Manchester UK), when there are a number of traffic lights, I went through 1 set then the next set suddenly changed, If I would have stopped I would have been blocking traffic from the side of me (I think) So I panicked and do drove through the light, it was at night, would a flash have gone off, if there was a camera on the traffic light? Do they now use night vision? If I do get a ticket would it be worth contesting it, Saying it was poorly laid out and that I’m not from the area and that I have had a clean licence for the past 10 years (only been driving for 13 years) and it was a mistake made by confusion?
Thanks for any replys

It depends if you object to it or not. You could argue the case. Normally these flashes only happen when you are travelling more than the speed limit through a red light.

Your number plate is reflective therefore it is clear as a bell to read on the image taken.

Not all cameras have the facility to photograph, some just have the flash as a prevention. Others and maybe in Manchester get the lens spray painted to prevent plates getting read.

You should go back to the camera and check it out. Just to put your mind at ease.

If the camera flashed from the opposite side of the road then you may not have been captured on film.

Me and my mates used to deliberately make one flash in Glasgow every morning on a dual carrageway this helps use up their film.

Ive heard stories of rows of bikers doing it whilst the plates are covered.

Probably digital photos now and can take as many as they need.

Buy a new number plates that doesnt have reflectors on it, they are illegal, should be able to get them on line.

Don't worry about it. If it comes, it comes! You never know these days whether you're going to get landed with a lovely photo of yourself wellying past either red lights or speed camera. But if you do, my son's took a month to land on the doormat. It was in my name as he was driving my car at the time! No I didn't pay it, I sent it back with his name on it (MEAN mother, but I too have kept a clean licence!)
The chances of you getting off are remote. Personally, I'd just pay the thing and put it down to experience! It just makes you look as though you don't know what you're doing if you say 'I didn't know where I was going!'.
I remember being stopped in the middle of a roundabout after driving round it 5 times (it may have been more times than that) because I had no idea which turning to take (and 2 of them led on to a motorway!). He was a very nice Mr Plod though and laughed as he pointed me in the right direction. But I hate looking as though I shouldn't be allowed out on my own!!! (I've been driving for 30+ years!)

you will receive a notice within 14 days if at all,if the junction is as bad as you explain, then others have probably been fined and contested it in the past, its simply not worth their bother.
